Content Post N'Keal Harry (lack of) Progress Report

This has an opening post with good commentary and information, which we definitely recommend reading.

It seems Harry himself disagrees with your assessment of Tom.

Newton has been positive, supportive and even defensive when asked receiving corps, which feels notable after a season in 2019 when Tom Brady wasn’t quite so publicly jazzed about his pass-catchers, roughly the same group in 2020. But the narrative that Brady wasn’t helping and mentoring Harry, who had a rough season, seems to be off.

“When it comes to wanting me to succeed in that regard, I think Tom wanted me to succeed just as much (as Newton),” Harry told reporters on Tuesday. “It’s just hard trying to compare it. I just think as a rookie, it was just hard for me to grasp the offense missing half of the season and getting thrown in there like that. So like I said, it really is hard to compare. But it is helpful to have Cam guiding me along.”

You’re also wrong about Tom not working outside of Patriots practices with Harry. Here is Tom throwing to him at his house before the 2019 season.

Serious question. How many times has Brady targeted Harry this year??

In reality how is Harry supposed to excel; with a QB who has 4 TDs to date?

Brady had an attitude that if you werent at the precise spot or if the ball was dropped (unless youre BFF Andelman) that you were dead to him.

Not for nothing, but I think that picture depicts the beginning of the end. I've seen what some others have seen; some possible mental weakness out there, and I've always sorta wondered if he let that TD getting called back set him down a wrong trajectory mentally that he can't course correct.

Just my .02 amateur psychoanalysis

A call back like that shouldn't get you down. But what happened week 1 of this season when MIA's LB (Baker) ran stride for stride with Harry and then stripping the ball out right before the goal line was the beginning of the end for him. Harry not outrunning a LB was more disturbing then the strip itself. Starts at 6:24.

it’s the Patriots GMs job to draft players who fit this team and he has done a piss Poor job of drafting offense since 2013

Belichick was fine developing WRs and TEs when Reese, O'Brien, Weiss, Dimitroff, Pioli were here. Givens, Branch, Graham, Gronk, Edelman, Hernandez. The drought is McDaniels and Caserio from 2012-now and 2005-2008. Absolutely the worst. This isn't Belichick. He gets crap info from the staff , at least the current offensive staff.

So you really think Belichick drafts players without having done his own film review and research on them?

Byrd and Meyers were both able to show bright spots with Cam when given the chance and probably worked themselves into still having a job next year. There's a severe lack of depth on this team for passing targets so if Harry was even remotely good he would have gotten a chance to prove it. Byrd has been around and accomplished very little (on a team that had Cam no less) and he's having one of his best years and flatout outproducing Harry. Meyers already has more yards than Harry and he really hasn't been getting opportunities until the last few weeks. Edelman had one of his all time best games this year.

Harry doesn't really have much of an excuse for this when other guys can do enough to standout.

Great pairing with their other 1st round pick who can't out run linebackers when he has a 10 yard lead on them.

brady realized this guy sucked from the beginning so he didn’t waste his time with the bust

worst draft pick in the past ten years by the patriots. FIRE able for any other GM

Agree and McDaniels should be fired for bust picks Harry, Michel, Chad Jackson, Maroney, Dobson, and many more. When McDaniels was not here the Pats drafted and developed Gronk, Edelman, Hernandez, Branch, Givens, Graham. With McDaniels we have to trade for WRs but even then can mess that up.

Congratulations on another lazy and misinformed/misleading post. Baker ran a 4.53 40 at the 2018 combine. He also ran a 6.93 3 cone.

PS. It is THAN, not then. In fact, your entire second is sentence an indictment of the US education system.

A word of advice: Avoid hitching your wagon to Rainmaker at all costs.

10 yards? As Vincent Gambini once asked...Would you like to revise your bullsh*t story? Harry got slightly checked at the line by the spy and then had to slow his route very briefly in order to adjust to the timing and trajectory of Cam’s pass. Harry has giving you plenty of plays to criticize this year, so there is no need to just make sh*t up.

The LB in coverage ran the 5th fastest 40 at the 2018 combine, at his position:

3cone and 40 doesn't mean squat. Jerry Rice proved that. And a ton of others. Let's get off the crap McDaniels/Caserio way of thinking.

All you’re doing is excusing an NFL LB running stride for stride with an NFL WR. You’re not really debating or denying it.

Rae Carruth & Ryan Leaf (not to mention JaMarcus Russell & Akili Smith) were first round picks. Let’s pump the breaks on “worst ever first rounder” talk.

Wrong. Harry’s speed is a problem but on that particular play/route against that particular LB, who was drafted on day 2 in large part for his elite positional speed and change of direction abilities, Harry’s lack of speed was not the problem. We aren’t talking about a go-route against Roberts. That route as well as the timing of Cam’s throw was not going to allow Harry to separate. He had a step on Baker but had to slow his route a fraction of a second to adjust to the pass and that was enough to catch up to him 8-10 yards later.

Baker’s 40 time (4.53) was in the range of Sutton (4.54) and Gallup (4.51), two of the best WRs in that 2018 class. On this play in partcular, straight line speed of the defender absolutely matters.

Everyone is awesome at drafting talent in the first round. That is, everyone can draft except BB. All the other teams hit 100%.

If you read the article, he is being replaced by MARSHALL NEWHOUSE. That is one name we can all agree "sucks". The Titans playoff hopes are one injury away from being destroyed by playing Newhouse. Imagine the delight of any DLineman going into a playoff game to square off against Newhouse.
