Gilmore out vs Bills

Yes it did. Bob Gladieux was summoned over the stadium loudspeaker to report to the locker room. I believe he also played one year for the Bills
Just looked up the details. It was the home opener at Harvard Stadium vs the jete.
Gladieux had been cut but decided to attend game with a buddy. The had both already downed several beers. His buddy went to buy more at the concession.
Meanwhile the pa announcer said over the loudspeaker " bob Gladieux please report to patriots locker room". When his friend got back to their seats with the beers he wondered where gladieux was. The patriots kicked off and the guy hears over the loudspeaker " tackle by bob gadieux", on the opening kickoff. True story. Stuff like that happened all the time with the Boston Patriots.

If he gets traded it better be for a 1st rounder or a top player...
As much as I also want to see this, I just can’t see it happening and am preparing myself for some conditional picks or some disappointing player on a rookie or low deal that’s not performing blah blah blah. 2020 has been awful!

Thanks.. I knew I had that name somewhere in the back of my head.. went back and found the story:

The former Notre Dame running back Bob Gladieux had been cut from the Patriots a few days earlier but decided to attend the season opener anyway with a friend.

Seated in the old concrete Harvard horseshoe before the start of the game, the two had already had a couple of beers when Gladieux’s friend agreed to get another round. Just after he left, the public address cackled: “Bob Gladieux, please report to the Patriots’ dressing room.”

Gladieux went downstairs and was told to suit up. Last-minute contract disputes had left the Patriots short. Gladieux, nicknamed Harpo for his flock of frizzy blond hair, hurriedly donned pads and was soon running down the field on the opening kickoff against the Miami Dolphins.

Back in the stands, his friend wondered why he was alone. He then watched the game and saw the Dolphins’ kick returner get tackled by No. 24 for the Patriots.

“Tackle by Bob Gladieux,” the public address announcer said.

Said St. Jean: “When we saw Harpo’s buddy later, he said: ‘I knew I was drinking, but not enough to be hearing things.’ ”

No surprise... I think a trade is almost certainly definite. I also think there's going to be a lot of hurt over the compensation since people are pining for a 1st. That's not happening.

Gilmore will only cost his new team 9/16 of $13M for 2020, and $7M for 2021. His age is irrelevant, unless you think that he won't be a $7M player this year and next.

The age factor is relevant regarding those expecting 1st round pick compensation for Gilmore (which won’t happen). Some analyst/reporter posted info showing the last dozen or so players who commanded a 1st round pick; they were ALL 27 or younger. Also, if you think he’s playing for 7M next year, the Brooklyn Bridge is quite the piece of real estate..

Yeah. Maybe you could get a first rounder from a team like Seattle if they had one.

lol this never happened
It absolutely did happen... But it was at the start of the game

Should have read the rest of the thread before replying lol

Of course he is. Too old and expensive to hold on to through a rebuild but still a top player at the moment. Sad to see him go but it's the right move for the team. The pats need as many high draft picks as possible. They also need to pull a George Constanza and pick the opposite WR they intend to as long as he is one of the top guys.

Anything less than a 2d rounder Bill the GM needs to hand over the reins
Yep. BB f***ed himself setting that precedent with the Sanu trade. You can't take anything less than a first.

But really, why even trade him? What will BB do with the pick? Draft another DB? The last good DB he's drafted was McCourty (after he moved to S). Unless Gilmore really wants out, there's no need to trade him.
