I love the Pats, but I definitely want to see Tom do well. I’m glad he’s got great stats and team success at this point. In fact, if the Pats don’t make the playoffs (I know, queue Jim Mora) I’d like to see Tampa win it.

I'm different. I don't want any other fanbases to share in his legacy...

I'm totally fine with the Pats letting Brady go IF there was a great succession plan in place. He's 43 and we are in uncharted territory, etc. - so I totally get that the team was not interested in him anymore. However, I assumed that Bill evaluated Stidham and Newton and one of them was going to do just fine. It's been nothing but a train wreck though. So like many others it infuriates me to see him doing so well on another club.

It was the double whammy of Belichick traded JimmyG because Tom got Kraft to back him, then Tom himself left 3 years later. Either keep Jimmy and move on from Tom earlier, or Ride Tom until he's 50 years old. Doing neither is what really screwed the approach.

I can understand your stance.

I suppose I’m just of the mindset that my teenage self only dreamed of winning a Super Bowl. Tom made that happen not once but SIX TIMES!!! So I can’t help but root for the guy who has given me everything from a sports fandom perspective.

I totally understand your rationale though too

Just imagine at his HOF ceremony with those Yucs fans showing up. Last year, they called him a cheater...now it's the GOAT.

I'll be rooting for Brady too. Doesn't mean I still can't also think Belichick is the best HC in the league by a mile

Best HC, average GM

I could agree. I'm conflicted. Belichick also pulls total elite players out of a hat in undrafted guys or low round picks. So I think he's above average as a GM. His blind spot is no developed WRs/TEs which I attribute to a terrible-scouting OC after O'Brien left.

McD did draft Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker in Denver...wouldn't mind having O'Brien back if Josh gets an HC job somewhere, which I doubt considering this offense.

One TD in the last two games. Brutal

Yeah, the BB WR drafting remains a mystery.

I suppose in his defense there are success stories like Deion Branch, David Givens, and Julian Edelman...……..some may argue Malcolm Mitchell as well (can we fault the scouts for his injury?)

All the 'team over Brady' people are looking pretty f*cking stupid right now. BB himself has said time and time again that "players win games, coaches loose games", yet he let the best player ever walk through the door. Look where each team is now... It's Brady, it's always been Brady .
Maybe you have a short memory, but we didn’t have $25 mill cap space at the time Brady signed with the Bucs. We might’ve had $10 mill at that time.

There is still time to get in the Lawrence sweepstakes.

The Pats need to lay down vs the Jets giving them 2 wins
I can’t say it enough. Do you think Belichick and the players “lay down” for a kid that’s still in college (or for anything else) ? People who bring up tanking, are the same people who lower the IQ % in this country. It’s such a moronic concept that is FAN made. It exists as much as the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy.

Look, landing the first overall pick is caused by being a terrible team, and the opposition causes you to be the worst team. It’s not by choice. I saw the Jets vs Buffalo game, the Jets were trying to win that game, they just weren’t good enough and the Bills were just better. That’s how it happens. Pats aren’t going to purposely lay down to the Jets just because YOU and others want Lawrence. They could lose to the Jets twice if they play like they did on Sunday.

I’ll take the 2 SB appearance and 1 SB win with Brady and a few years of pain after Brady, over keeping Jimmy G and dumping Brady early.

Don’t know how many times I have to say this. CAP SPACE. They didn’t have the CAP SPACE to sign Brady.

These players were drafted and developed when Weiss was OC or O'Brien was OC....

1. I wasnt serious. I figured that there couldnt be anyone stupid enough on this messageboard to believe that Belichick would purposely try to go 2 - 14. I forgot about someone.
2 The Jets are going 0 - 16 if thats what it takes to get Lawrence.
3. I dont recall who you are, but my guess is that youre a Cornpop fan. So dont tell me about IQs.

I actually don't think we are that far away from being decent but this year is going to be a tough year. The O line when healthy is well above average. We have great RBs and hopeful that one of the new TEs may be decent. The WRs look pretty bad right now but trading for a decent one isn't beyond the realms of possibility. Cam coming in with no preseason and with a line being mixed and matched and with severely disrupted practices if any practice at all is always going to lead to a pretty ugly patch. We needed everything to go well around cam and it isn't by any stretch. You cant have no preseason, almost no practice for 2 /3 weeks and a makeshift o line and a new QB with poor receivers and expect things to go well. it just isn't going to happen.
