I wonder if Bill puts Onwenu at RT or if he keeps Thuney at C, Onwenu at LG, and Mason at RG with Herron at RT. I know moving Andrews to the bench would suck for him, but Thuney has played better at center than Andrews ever has, imho.

While I agree with Thuney being a better center I feel the only thing that might keep Andrews on the bench would be concerns about that finger injury.

But why activate him from IR then ?

Schedule makers not doing us any favors here with the late kick off. West coast team gets their rest and no advantage for New England.

There is no actual advantage...it's like an old wive's tale.

Jordan Willis can't play in this game because there's not time to clear the Covid testing after his trade from the Jets, but it's a good example of how desperate the 49ers are on the defensive line.

They traded Buckner in the offseason, and three of the other top four pass rushers from last season are on injured reserve. Arik Armstead had half a sack, 5 hits, and a hurry against the decimated Eagles OL, but a single hurry in the two games since then. Kinlaw (17th overall) hasn't done a ton either.

There is no other way to explain this awful teams' win over the Raiders. That same Raiders team who beat the Chiefs. The Chiefs who were not supposed to lose a single game!!

Question: If Garropolo gets benched and then cut/released mid-game, let's say during halftime, can Pats technically sign him and have him put on Pats uniform for 2nd half?

Guard is a more valuable position than Center. And Tackle is a most valuable position than Guard. Thuney, being a superior player, is better placed at Guard.

With Andrew's back our OL should go back to being a strength

Andrews is not off IR yet, so he is technically not back. Broken thumb surgery 3 weeks ago on his right hand used to hike the ball. Not sure he is 100%.

Thuney, Mason and Onwenu is a really strong middle of the line.
I just wonder if Andrews is one of our best 5 lineman, if we have to find a way to put him in the lineup with the above mentioned and Wynn. I guess it comes down to who do we want as our 5th lineman Andrews or Herron...

He's no Bob Gladieux, so no, that would not be possible.

can you practice still on IR? I was just going by this article

I am not an expert but I believe they can practice for 3 weeks before coming off IR. This year the rules are different too. Obviously the guys shuffled onto the team for Sunday's game will have to be shuffled off to accomodate the guys coming off COVID list and anyone activated off IR.

Maybe someone with more knowledge can further clarify.

Getting a huge break with this one. 49ers are basically missing their top players om both sides of the ball. Take away kittle, commit to the run and do better than last week on offense and we should be fine.

and we're pretty damn good at taking away TEs this season so far in Kelce and Waller.

George Kittle is a whole another problem. Kelce is just a receiver. Waller is a tight end with average blocking. George Kittle is a very good blocker which poses peak Gronk level problems in the play action game.

Expecting a big game from Harry or KNH as I like to call him. 100 yards plus and 2 TDs.

He is due.

Anyway great news that we have a few players back at practice

I feel good about the patriots ability to handle TEs this year. Looking forward to the game. Feeling no pressure around winning is a refreshing change....for now.

I find it hilarious that people consider a NFC game a must win game.

Patriots might win the superbowl or not even make the playoffs. My suggestion is to enjoy football. I remember cheering like a fool when the patriots got a first down back in the day. People need to reset their expectations.
