League giving Pats “a break” by postponing game?

There’s no other team the league would force to fly out and play same day with their backup QB and complete uncertainty around how many players have COVID. Obviously the league wants to make it impossible for the Pats to win. this game is a farce, so much for “integrity” and “competitive balance”.

If Kraft had any balls he’d refuse to play and force the league to either reschedule or explain to the networks why one of the best games on the schedule won’t be played.

This could be a total disaster and blow up the entire NFL season. I hope any Pats players that contract COVID on the flight to KC sue the league blind.

I'll just take Goodell getting fired.

The notion that the League has it out for the Pats here is no less absurd than the notion that the League is helping the Pats here.

When Tennessee had a positive, they pushed the game to Monday pending the results of additional tests. When there were more positives, they pushed the game back a couple weeks.

Same thing happened here except there were no additional positives. So they will be playing on Monday.

all COVID science points to the league making a completely bone headed move. The incubation period along should be enough to prevent teams from doing anything for atleast 72 hrs. Anyone with a half a brain knows these facts. It leaves you only one question? Why not move the game back just for safety purposes. I can tell you why, it’s a huge disadvantage to the patriots. I even have a hard time believing this but when you look at all the facts I can’t think of a single alternative reason they would have the game tomorrow.

If you want to argue the NFL protocols, that's a separate discussion. Fact remains they are treating the NE-KC game the same way they treated the TN-Pit game. The key difference is that NE-KC had no additional positives, whereas TN did.

If this is how 345 Park Ave feels expect the officiating to reflect it. Going to be tough.

one other thought on the matter ... If it were Mahomes who caught the covid, i would wager my paycheck and yours that the game would have been postponed to a later date...
I would have taken that bet. If it was just one player, as it is with NE, the game would go on. The League doesn’t want to be pushing games all over the place.

nfl launched an immediate investigation into the Pats for 1 player testing positive.

Meanwhile there was no report on an investigation into the Titans who had multiple people until after the Newton news.

There was also no investigation into the Falcons player getting it a couple weeks ago and there is no word on an investigation of the Chiefs and Saints who had players test positive this week.

Why is it the nfl launched an immediate investigation into the Pats after 1 player but there isn't one for the Chiefs? Reminder the game was moved not just because of the Pats but also because a Chiefs PS player who was running the scout team as Newton in practice tested positive

Hell no. The league NEEDS this game to be played because of 2 major reasons. A cake walk for the Chiefs in their quest for home field throughout AND a possibly that by weeks end, the Pats are 2-2 and the Bills are 4-0. This is a league wet dream and the only reason they are pushing this game to be played now. Its a win win for them.

I don't know if the league would want it. It's one of the best match ups on the entire regular season schedule and it sucks for everybody except for KC to have it be a lopsided, crippled contest, IMO. I think they would've preferred Cam to play.

One benefit we get is if we do face KC later in the season, they wouldn't have any film of Cam from this game. Any wrinkles Bill was planning at throwing them can wait...

That's not what Schefter reports and I take his reporting over anyone's - especially Florio.

“Investigating is what they’re doing in Tennessee, and Tennessee’s going to pay the price for it,” Schefter added. “Tennessee’s in trouble. I haven’t gotten any kind of sense that New England’s in any kind of trouble.”

According to Schefter, the NFL’s contact with the Patriots has been more procedural than accusatory.

“The league, I wouldn’t call it investigating, I would call it doing its job, reviewing the situation,” Schefter explained. “The league isn’t just going to hear about a positive test result for a starting quarterback and say, ‘OK, well let us know when he’s better.’ That’s not how it works.”

Cam will also (hopefully) be an improved QB by then than he would be this week, with almost a full season under his belt.
