We are on to Kansas City

This sounds right. The handful of KC Mahomes games I've seen, the offense just gets better and better as the game wears on. If the Pats go into halftime with a 20-3 lead, I still wouldn't bet on a win. Hoping they pull it off though.

If they get a big lead, it's over. This team doesn't have the weapons to come from behind.

LBs will probably get abused, but we have the secondary to slow down their wideouts in man. Hill will probably catch 1-2 long ones but where we will win or lose the game is the ability to contain their backs and Kelce.
I'd say contain the backs is the biggest challenge. JoeJuan Williams should be able to handle that receiver Kelce.

I appreciated Kc win in Baltimore
A loss would have been something they should have repaired against us

Now they are relaxed and we could have a chance

This is probably the most pessimistic Pats fans have been towards an upcoming match up since the Clinton administration.

OK, we're playing the best in the NFL with a team that may develop into a playoff team. I like what we have done. I just don't think that we are ready for KC. We can use our weekend heroics to stop Kelce. We'll need 2-3 interceptions to come close to nullifying the rest of their offense.

We are, and should be, a touchdown underdog. This should have been true for BALT.

If we have a similar game to the Seahawks game in terms of closeness, I'll be estatic. That means our defense is strong enough to hold the best offense to a pace that our offense can keep up with. And that could be promising for the rest of the season.

What's scary is - KC, just like everyone else, is still getting a feel for their team - and still learning how to incorporate Helaire (and already have with great success). We can only hope that our offense looks suffocating and punchy when White and Harris come back, and the TEs develop a bit more to at least make teams respect them in the passing game.

A lot of "if's" there, though haha.

This thread should be renamed "I don't always enjoy nuts in my mouth but when I do I prefer them to be the Chiefs'".

We are talking about the same Chiefs team that should have lost to an underperforming 2019 Patriots team with even fewer offensive weapons (and a definitively weaker OL) compared to this year's team, if not for one of the worst officiating screw jobs in recent memory. The same Chiefs team that came extremely close to losing week 2 to a non-elite Chargers team with a rookie QB starting his first game?

The Chiefs are clearly the best team in the league but by no means are they unbeatable. To me their defense is still middle of the pack overall and they may be missing Jones, depending on the severity of his groin injury. Playing them in KC with only 17,000 fans is a huge break. In theory, the patriots current defensive personnel match up well with the Chiefs strengths (that is by design, in my opinion), but they have to find a way to limit their big plays, especially to Hill. I think that they have a decent chance to limit Kelce with a combination of Williams, Dugger and Phillips. We've seen the Pats consistently shut down the Chiefs in the first half but Reid is a master of making halftime adjustments.

I'm not predicting a Pats victory but I do think that it will be close, at a minimum. There is far too much pessimism in this thread.

First time in a long time I think we don't stand a chance. The problem for us is our Defense vs their offense. We will score can't keep up with them. We will get better, but this game came too early for the team IMO.
Last time I felt this way was the game against the Saints in 2009.

On the bright side this team is way more likeable and fun to watch than that 2009 team was. If they lose so be it, but I bet they’ll give us something to look forward to just like in Seattle.

How about Andy Reids cool hat slash face shield set up?

Slick Willie always found a way to come out smelling like rose.

Im not worried.

A loss on Sunday won’t necessarily mean a loss in January if both teams meet. No matter the outcome I want to see continued improvement over the last 3 weeks and it’s a W for me if there is.

their run defense is bad

in before someone replies that this shows Pats have gone against bad run defenses, keep in mind Pats had 217 against the lolphins and 250 against the raiders, so more than half their yards given up this year was because of the Pats running game
Doesn’t matter either way....217/250 is 217/250..

Any hope in beating the Chiefs next week? Right now they are killing the Ravens...even if Baltimore comes back (down 27-10 at the half), Kansas City is going to be a handful...
Anything is possible but in my opinion....no we don’t win this one. KC easy favorite to make it back to AFC Championship and quite probably repeat as SB Champs....who stops them?

The Pats were the only team last year besides the Chargers to slow down the full offense - Hill, Kelce & Watkins. The Chiefs are 13-1 since last year with all of them playing & their one loss was 38-35 to the Titans. Pats held them to 23 points & 4.8 yards per play.

They have the horses to slow them down. Gilmore (& others) need to bring their A game.
Unfortunately that was last year....so much has changed. But any given Sunday!.....GO PATS!

We have to bully them. Play physical football. Put pash rushers on the ground and lay on top of them. Run at their speed guys. Gang tackle receivers. Now would be a good time to perfect that coordinated pash rush. Mahommes can still run for 20 - 30 yards.

The Chatham review of the learning curve on the Pats offense provides some optimism. In PP2's thread on the Raider game. A good reminder that they are just getting started with regards to Cam and this offense, because of the shortened camp and no preseason games. Lots of easily obtained improvement.

Our run defense in general has been somewhat spotty and stopping their running game and schemes is going to be a challenge. Thats where i fear the game might get away . But as someone said before, its not until you play the patriots, your team's shortcomings get exposed. So we might likely not win this game but maybe poke a few holes in that armour. At least i hope so.
