I mean he’s a big dude but he isn’t trucking people like he should.

His job isn't to be "trucking people". He's not 6'6 - 265 lbs. He's 6'2 3/8-225.

His job is to make catches and keep a hold of the ball. The expectations of people on this board for a guy who has played less than 16 NFL games is ridiculous. You have them ignoring the fact that he's walked into one of the most complicated, if not the most complicated, offense in the league. You have them ignoring the fact that he was considered to be extremely talented, but RAW in his route running when he came out of College. You have them ignoring that in college, one of the pluses mentioned was that he already knew how to effectively use his body to box out defenders.

You also have them ignoring the fact that he's not going up against 5'9-180 lbs CBs. The fumble was caused by a LB. The hit he took from Diggs was from a guy that is 5'9-200 lbs and launched at his head. Teams are putting LBs and Safeties on him..

But losing this game doesn’t make it less likely that we lose to the chiefs, ravens, bills, etc. so I don’t really follow.

If you think our secondary is elite (meaning they can repeat the coverage they displayed against Seattle) than statistically there will only be so many perfect passes a year to beat them. Of course injuries, low sample size and the human factor affect the stats, but bear with me. Allen (at Buffalo) will never throw those passes, maybe Mahommes will throw one? Maybe not? Because the coverage was so good, those completions will not keep happening - statistically those perfect throws can't be routinely completed. Without those passes we win.

Our D is legit and young. The front 7 will get better as the rooks learn. Those passes will not keep happening - they were outliers.

So we took one on the chin (statistically). It will not continue. Did you watch Moneyball? As long as the secondary plays like that those passes will not continue. Be glad it happened with a NFC team :)

Wouldn’t this be the dream sb matchup this year, aside from those who are that sick of seeing New England in the sb. These teams always put on a show

But we did win!....Nobody got injured ;)

Yeah, no one has mentioned it yet, but Seattle paid a pretty steep price for that win in terms of bodies.

I am rooting for Harry but the whole deal with him is that he's supposed to be really tough to bring down after the catch and that didn't happen tonight.

I'm shocked at how good Cam is looking and I think this is a game that is probably less close if Brady is still under center which sounds like I'm throwing shade at Brady but it's just more that this team doesn't have what he needs to thrive.

I think we can address the defensive breakdowns and if we're going to lose a game I don't mind dropping one to the NFC.

Right now I think we have a good shot at winning 3 out of the next 4.

Honestly, this is as close as I think you can come to feeling upbeat after a loss.

Someone who isn't tough doesn't hold on to that fourth and three catch while being the target of a helmet to the head hit.

That he held onto the ball is impressive. But it's true he isn't tough to bring down. You're focusing on the word tough not tough to bring down.

Honestly, I saw guys not holding their lanes.. Usually with running QBs, BB stresses keeping the QB in front of you and not giving up containment.

I'll make the excuse - add to no offseason, training camp, etc BB's mother passing away which necessarily meant the entire staff distracted from normal preparation. I don't care if it was just BB actually away from the facility (which I doubt as I tend to believe there is much more support for him amongst the staff - like for example - his son!) In these circumstances, fundamentals are the first thing to break down. Upon learning that took place I was surprised the outcome was as close as it was.

I thought Harry was very disappointing last night. If you are going to play slow and fail to get separation, break tackles and find a way to make them miss. He didn't do that. There is still time for him but as of right now he looks like a backup possession receiver.

Unbelievable.

Meh... the play had an 80% success rate. Tip your cap to Seattle for making one more play. As you say, lots of encouraging things. Harry had a nice game, Edelman looks healthy, even Byrd came up with some timely plays. Cam was obviously great. Defensively, we missed Hightower, Chung, and Collins for the first time tonight. When we went zone, Wilson killed us underneath on crossers, slants, etc. When we went Cover-1, he hit us with two perfectly thrown deep balls. I’d recommend to exercise a bit of caution, though. Seattle’s defense is not good, and that’s even before losing a DB to ejection. Michel was still ineffective and I worry his knee might be toast.

The thing for me is how we'll evolve on offense from now on. Teams are going to take a page out of Seattle's strategy last night and have their defense seal the edge and force Cam to keep on the various RPO's that we call for him. Does he then become more of a traditional pocket passer? That would certainly help lessen the wear and tear.

Give it time. There's room for growth. He's already a starting caliber WR and the QB is doing what he can to help him get better.

On pace for 104 catches and 1000 yards and people here are labeling him a bust.

I must admit that I did not see a lot of Harry in the first half but in the third and fourth quarters he did very well , ok he did not run for 50 yards after the catch but all his catches were solid....this has got to be good news and a sign he is gelling with Cam....I also thought Byrd played well , much better than Dorset when he was here (assuming it is fair to compare Dorsett/Byrd).....some may say the Seahawks dont have a good secondary but I was happy to see Cam throwing to all these guys......also Izzo contributed with two catches and some decent blocking. I did not notice that Asiasi did in fact get some snaps but used as a blocker only...I think

NE might need a RB

Sony is back to being 2.5 yac Sony. I dont understand why Taylor only had 1 carry after last week.

Because of the pass packages and more so late scratch of James White - Burkhead is the only one that likely knows all the protections/routes/blitz pickups, etc AND maybe got some practice reps in them last week.

Being down on the scoreboard, the straight running play options were limited - therefore not giving Taylor any chance to get into the game.

I see Harry has become the focus of this thread (like most threads). I think he was a mixed bag last night. People have been criticizing his strength as a ballcarrier, but I honestly think he looked better than most WR in terms of trucking and dragging defenders. He's not going to look like Gronk out there. His hands also looked solid.

One thing I didn't love about what I saw from Harry was his lack of finesse with the ball in his hands. I thought he was supposed to give us some of what we used to have in Patterson on screens, but his elusiveness isn't even where it was last year (e.g. against KC in the game the refs stole a TD from him). I don't think many, if any, of those screen passes to Harry were effective against Seattle. Surprisingly, he seemed to look better running traditional routes. Maybe that's just what the defense was willing to leave open all night.

Overall, I thought Harry and Byrd looked like real, but average, NFL receivers. I really like that Cam doesn't seem to give a **** about the lack of skill position talent. This was basically how he won his MVP in 2015 and it gives me confidence that when Gunner returns, he'll be at least somewhat useful to the offense.

Stop using facts. You're just going to confuse him.
Still amazing Harry took that hit and stayed in the game and made plays all game long, especially on the final drive when the pressure was really on. He showed real poise and toughness for such a young player.

He also got one of their better DBs tossed out of the game as a side effect of taking that hit, another reason why it was a close game.

It's pretty clear both BB and Carroll had this one circled on the calendar, the intensity level was off the charts.
I'll make the excuse - add to no offseason, training camp, etc BB's mother passing away which necessarily meant the entire staff distracted from normal preparation. And of course no one knew the tragedy James White had to deal with was coming either.

Lots of other teams would have had an off week with all that emotional baggage to be carried.
On pace for 104 catches and 1000 yards and people here are labeling him a bust.
People need to watch the game instead of going with what some mediot is telling them.

Someone who isn't tough doesn't hold on to that fourth and three catch while being the target of a helmet to the head hit.

That would be a great point if I said he wasn't tough.
