KVN will have this game circled too. Overrated a bit as a pass rusher but can defend the run.

I can see Cam being a problem for him though. We'll see

Ah yes. Now I remember. This was the game Gilmore took off.

-- The roster includes 24 newcomers, players who were not with the team at the end of the 2019 season. Impressively, not one of those players was a "street free agent." Of the 24, 11 were unrestricted free agent signings, 10 were draft picks, and three came over in trades — Bowden from the Raiders, Shaheen from the Bears, and Breida from the 49ers.
-- Along with the picks from the 2020 class, the Dolphins have 15 other original draft picks on the roster, meaning 25 of the 53 players were original Dolphins draft picks.
-- The initial 53-man roster does not include a single rookie free agent, which goes along with what everybody thought: that it would be very difficult for a UDFA to make a quick impression with no offseason practices and no preseason games.
-- By percentage, the bigger makeovers from last season occurred on both lines, with four of the seven defensive linemen being new as well as five of the nine offensive linemen.

It will be interesting to see how the Patriot WRs - considered to be the weak link on the team - fare against Miami's secondary, which appears to be the Dolphins strongest position.

When you give up more points than any team in the NFL, and more yards than all but two, it’s hard to find positives. But there were some in 2019.
While the Dolphins didn’t often play well, they always played hard. They were not heavily penalized, showing discipline that previous Miami teams lacked. They found some useful players on the scrap heap (such as young cornerback Nik Needham and linebacker Vince Biegel), got a bounce-back season from young linebacker Raekwon McMillan (who was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders in late August) and did get better as the season went on — the Dolphins allowed a ridiculous 163 points in the first quarter of the season but later held the Colts to 12 and the Patriots to 24.
And they did the latter after shutting down their shutdown cornerback Xavien Howard. Now Howard returns, to pair with Byron Jones, stolen from Dallas with a major payday ($57 million guaranteed). Jones isn’t the thief that Howard is, but few get open against him, and that is necessary until Miami finds a pass rush (just 23 sacks in 2019, worst in the NFL). Brandon Jones, a rookie out of Texas, will have a chance to earn a starting safety spot alongside a returning veteran, Bobby McCain or Eric Rowe, while another rookie, Auburn’s Noah Igbinoghene, will likely be the nickel.

I wonder which Fitzpatrick will show up Sunday...either way I am confident that the Patriots will come out with the W.

They had a rare off game it happens. Too bad Tompa Boy couldn’t pick them up for once that year - instead he threw his first of two season killing pick 6’s that very same game.

Lemme guess- that wasn’t his fault either. Right.

How about the coaching staff making adjustments on defense. Don’t know why they didn’t put the safety over the top on Parker who gilmore struggled with.

In the UK we get to see live Dolphins v Patriots , Bucs v Saints and then Cowboys v Rams.....not bad for week 1

I see Gunnar is back at practice , good news as I think he will definately be fully loaded for the game

Maybe I’m reading too much into camp but I feel Gunnar can be what Jules was early on when we had Wes as our main slot wr. Return guy who can give us some solid reps in the slot.

Get ready for typical opening weekend vanilla defense coupled with a few Fitzmagic 7-7, 3-3 on third down, 75 yard td drives. Issue is whether the defense can force punts/turnovers. Fitzmagic ****ing blows and I still can't believe he torched the Pats when it mattered AT HOME last year with the "Boogeymen" defense...

It wouldn’t shock me if the fins did the same thing they did at the end of season against the pats. Double edelman and force harry or any of these other wideouts to beat them.

Because there is a good chance they won't be able to get away with as much man coverage this time. It is pretty exciting going into this first game not knowing what kind of attack to expect from Newton/McDaniels.

Am sure Boyer and Flores are not particularly happy about opening at Foxboro in a season where there is absolutely zero tape after a QB transition. What do you even prepare or gameplan for on defense ?

Remember when Bill didn't bother to call time outs with plenty of time left to score points and letting the clock go and conceding the half because even he knew how much the offense reeked? Probably saved a turnover there. Good times....

On that note I wouldn't expect much better from our 2 minute offense in the first half of the season either. It sounds like they were abysmal during the portion of camp where the media was allowed in. Which kinda makes sense to me as running the two minute McD offense cleanly without wasting too many TOs has been one of the most underrated aspects of Brady's tenure here. That's when he was most impressive.

3 of their captains ... Yeesh .... That's a lot of talent drain for us... why do I think buffalo is over rated, while people are sleeping on new england south ... they added a lot of decent players ...

If tua is any good they might cause waves in the long run... though that is all predicated on the belief the Flores is actually a good coach... they changed their playbook midstream last season... Caught teams sleeping after the shift...

Now that there is tape and a long off-season to parse it out, it's on flores and his staff to put that team in a position to win...
