Beau Allen will be better than Shelton who is a 340 pounder that plays like a 290 pounder with no ability to anchor and not enough balance to not get turned sideways. Anfernee Jennings or even Brandon Copeland will be a better run defender than flashy Jamie Collins who would make a great play and then gets dominated on the next ten. Bentley and Maluia, Harris or Tezino will be better against the run than KVN or Elandon “Wrong hole” Roberts.

Beau Allen - Maybe
To automatically assume Jennings will be better than Collins seems insane to me.
Why didn't Bentley play in front of Van Noy last season?

Van Noy is my nominee for the next Pats player fans forget was on the team.

Yeah, assuming that we can get solid production from Copeland/Maluia/Harris/Tezino is a dangerous game. Copeland is a career JAG and the latter 3 are low-end rookies. Maluia in particular has very little on paper to suggest he's anything but a future special teamer.

Beau Allen is another career JAG who might be a solid replacement for Shelton but will in all likelihood not be an upgrade.

Some very rose tinted takes overall.

both Collins and Van Noy faded down the stretch.....what they were at the end of the season is upgradeable for much less money......Shelton is just a fat guy....he was ok, but Guy was the interior man. but it is not a conclusion the positions were upgraded. Winovich has a higher all around ceiling than either Van Noy or Collins and it will depend on what they have in mind with Uche since his size will force them to do something different
That might be, but Fat Danny is still >>> Fat Thor.

Disagree with Fat Thor vs Fat Danny...Fat Thor is terrible, and way too expensive relative to the market, similar to Matty LaGlasse last year...
Jennings & Copeland had better be good run defenders, because they're both less-than-useless, plodding stiffs in space...
Tezino and especially both Bentley & MyLulu are nothing whatsoever more than sub-practice squad-level, tackling-dummy junk, none of whom are deserving to wear even a training camp jersey.

I do agree however about Wrong Hole Roberts, who also sucked.

We’ll just have to see what the winner decides to do!

Think about it. No need to decide until we see if there will actually be a season.

You already lost.

There will be an NFL season. Kraft said so on Hannity and he said there will be fans in the stadiums.

This defense has come so far in man match-passing guys off since Gilly got here. It was a borderline nightmare at first, some instances. Now, there's a small gap between us and the next best.

It showed up big time against the Rams, KC & Atl.

With as much *****ing that goes on around here Bill deserves a ton of credit for building this defense the way he did in 2020.
I mentioned the other day about how far & fast defense has changed. Remember when you only needed 2 good corners or would worry about your CB2? Now you need 5-6 different DB's that can cover. You need to worry about QB's that can bust off 40 yard runs and can air it out pretty easily.

Jackson deserves mentioned in the top tier CB groups. He's so good impending speed at the line off press using his jam & sidelines. You see it in trail coverage as well. Just really makes everything difficult for the WR.

I really want to keep him & Jones. Those two could be out CB1-2 for a good 6-7 years if we can get ahead on their contracts.

So good ...

How'd the elite man match do vs tannehill in January in Foxboro late when they needed a stop?

I think you're having trouble following this conversation. My bad, forgot whom I was engaging with.

I think Jennings fills the KVN role and Uche/Winovich play the Collins spot. Bentley I'm not convinced he is more than a run-stopper in specific spots currently.

Read the previous post Einstein.
I did. Van Noy and Bentley play completely different positions, have completely different skill-sets and completely different skill levels.
Einstein.
