Keene is a "shade" slower than Kittle? Really?

Here is the data I was referring to earlier. I have no idea where this talk of him being ultra-athletic comes from. This is his data compared to the average at the combine. In a league where speed is measured in 1/10ths of a second in the 40, this guy was a few 1/100ths away from average. If Kittle is only a "shade" faster than Keene (4.5 vs 4.7), how is Keene more than average (4.71 vs 4.78). You don't get it both ways.

Do you honestly feel this guy's measureables, when compared to his lack of production and just simply watching him play should lead anybody to believe he is anything more than a JAG. If so why? Hope?

According to "those in the know" this TE class was weak. and this guy appears weak among a weak TE class. I'm sure Rudy is a nice enough guy, but he's an overachiever who has peaked right where he's at. He's a JAG. He plays like a JAG. He tests like a JAG (relative to NFL TEs). He has the production of a JAG.

He was a waste of a 3rd round pick, but he has nothing when it comes to N'Keal Underwood or One Knee Michel when it comes to wastes of picks. This year's team will be punished much more from those picks than the Rudy pick.

I judge each prospect and B.B. move based on its merits. I've already shown in detail how the most athletic TE in this draft class can hardly be considered an "average" athlete. You've only proven you're a doom and gloom negative nancy.

I suspect you're the type that doesn't say boo prior to the draft on who they should pick but are quick to tell us B.B. screwed up his picks afterwards.

Feel free to show me where I'm wrong, there must be a a thread or two where you rated the TE's prior to the draft?

Most intelligent post in this thread. However, while I do appreciate the title, I don't feel you need to be an expert to see that Keene is a JAG.

Keene has never practiced against or played against NFL players. How can anyone state with full conviction that he is already a bum...or not? I want to assume these people are trolling or joking. Why would anyone set themselves up for inevitable failure with these comments knowing these players have not practiced, played or even been to Gillette? The average NFL career lasts three years.

It's a really hard job.

If I did as some negative Nancy types do and simply stated that all of BB's draft picks suck, more often than not I would be correct according to the law of averages.

A great GM in the NFL only hits on 30% of their picks, their averages are comparable to a MLB hitter. And this is true of 1st round picks on, no draft pick comes with a money back guarantee.

Many players leave college and high school their bodies wracked with injury, some are just happy to be drafted and collect that one contract. Others injury will take them in the pros, or they are not smart enough to grasp pro concepts, some simply aren't good enough athletes to make the jump.

Making a guarantee either way is a foolish. That being said "athleticism" can actually be measured. Saying player X is a poor athlete when some of the best players in the NFL have comparable athleticism is pure unadulterated agenda driven bias.

Look, I’m relatively negative sometimes, I don’t wear rose colored glasses, and have complained about Belichick’s drafting in the past. But let’s see these guys play a season or 2 before we call guys JAGS/BUSTS. My complaints usually are about positions drafted when other positions are in dire need. Not about combine numbers or projection of players.

I'm not sure many posters are aware this site and others like it come with a search engine. I went to said posters personal homepage and searched keywords like "draft" and "tight end" and it's littered with doom and gloom about every Patriot player who isn't already successful.

The only pre-draft rankings or comments I could find of the positive nature were good things said about Trevor Lawrence in regards to tanking. So he really goes out on a limb for the 1st overall player to be taken in next years draft who they have zero shot of getting unless they trade everything for him.

In short Stidham sucks, N'Keal sucks, all the draft picks in 2020 suck... the world is going to end.

I have no problem with draft grades, but give them to us prior to the draft. Don't be a ghost prior to the draft then tell us who sucks after BB selects them... that's obvious bias.

He liked Kmet and Trautman, thought Asiasi was an early day 3 guy who he preferred as the #2 of the TE double dip etc. So whether the prediction is right or wrong unlike @iapatsfan at least he’s putting it out there beforehand.

I agree that iapatsfan takes it to another level but in Captain Stone's mind anything that Belichick touches from a personnel standpoint is hot garbage. That got old very quickly.

The correct question is why do honest, nice Patsfans posters respond to them? Trolls die in a vacuum - when no-one responds, the trolls go to a different message board. It's worse than that. These troll-fans are assuming that if they're wrong all will be forgiven in our delight with the success of the players they are bashing. So they see it as a no lose situation, i.e. if a player like Keene busts they'll never let us forget it, but if he's successful they'll be silent and "happy to be wrong" if confronted. This dynamic powers lots of the negativism in the press as well: everyone is happy if they're wrong, and we do tend to forgive them when things go well because we are indeed happy.

We must never forget and hold these troll-fans accountable when they are wrong. You know they never let us forget when they are right, so return the favor.
