Draft thoughts ...

Don’t forget the Eagles, their receiver draft may go down as legendary. Jalen Reagor, John Hightower, Quez Watkins, all run 4.3 or 4.4. Then they traded for Marquise Goodwin, who also runs a 4.4. Pure speed on that team.
I was just talking with an Eagle fan upset they went Reagor >Jefferson. I guess Jefferson was the "consensus better player". I saw it a little differently and had Reagor WR3 not far apart Lamb & JJ.

Anyway yea that WR/TE/RB rec corp is looking a lot better! Jeffrey (if they keep him looks lile they will) , Reagor, Goedert, Ertz, Sanders, HT, Watkins ...

i am surprised they didnt draft a single wideout esp in the later rounds. Sounds like BB isnt in a hurry to improve speed on that position.

Or maybe BB sees the run on receivers, and knows that for every one signed, a vet is released. Late cuts may be where he looks to shop.

every year half the fanbase goes beserk after the draft...this is just the START of construction on the 2020 Patriots roster. If it's too much pain for you to endure anymore, follow another team that suits YOUR immediate needs. The Ravens come to mind immediately...

Only been saying this for some time now

I would have taken Baylor WR Denzel Mims at 37.

Now Stidham is screwed. No speed at the perimeter for how many years now?

But Stevie has lots of moving pieces to play with.

It’s called nepotism.

No need to move up for fast feet slow thought Uche. Stay put at 71 and 98 and take our new Van Noy with Zack Baun out of Wisconsin and the athletic marvel DT Neville Gallimore out of Oklahoma. Dallas got him and will love him.

Any more and you’ve got to pay me.

Why would we want to pay you for those scalding takes? Nepotism is why they should take two defensive players over one? o_O

I like that word scalding. Scary in tea, though.

Looking over some teams Minne, NO & Hous seemed to like guys that fit our profile.

NO - Ruiz, Baun, Trautman & Stevens. They've nailed a bunch of picks lately and sometimes only had a few picks while doing so.

TB - Wirfs, Winfield, Vaughn, Johnson, Davis, Russell, Calais

Wirfs will make an immediate impact. So will Winfield & Johnson.

Johnson is a great target for Brady. Precise rr with good hands that can adjust to contested catches.

How about KC? If Gay is straight that's a good pick. He was high on my board bc of his testing #'s we like. Has some recognition & ID issues but hes really talented. + range, tackling & movements. You can move him around.

CEH is going to be a nightmare for teams. All that speed and then you have to do deal with him juking you the hell out.

Hey, Julian, ready to get pounded again this year along with your rookie TEs?

How long do you think Dalton Keene will stay healthy?

Where’s the speedy WR? Something we haven’t had for years.

The Jets caught a very big break in the 2020 draft. They dropped back 11 spots to collect a third-rounder and still got Denzel Mims at 59.

And we got Josh Uche at 60.

That’s like almost getting Christine Brinkley as a prom date and having to settle for Lilly Tomlin.

Prepare for the draft awards by sports scribes today and their subjective grades, as these writers pontificate about which team "won" and which team "lost" in the draft... of course the Boston cadre will whine about what have been if the Pats drafted player X or how come they did not pick player Y.

Then there will be the prolific whine of Sports Talk Radio to add to the confusion, and many fans will become experts after listening to Bertram, Felger et al.. and those fans will ascend to a soapbox believing they are experts on assessing the draft and spread the info they heard.

All the while keeping in mind for many oi f these teams that this is their AFC/NFC championship or Superbowl.. the "winners" will revel in the streets over the draft.. meanwhile in the bowels of Gillette, or Nantucket, nefarious plans are being made in preparation for the upcoming NFL season..

Funny aside my bro in law, forever Vikings Fan, last night denounced his forever fandom as they passed on two WR's from the University of Minnesota .. he and my sister are now "Tompa Bay" fans as they believe that the Brady led team will bring them the glory they yearn for....

Looking at our picks ...

It's clear Bill had a plan coming in. Obviously they had their board but it seems to me Bill planned a year ahead like he did last year. He has to have a 3-5 year plan in mind approaching 70?

JoJo Williams, Wino, Dugger (Chung), Jennings (Wise), Uche (Collins) all look like what we'll see on a 2021 starting defense.

I really like the TE's. I probably would have gone Trautman at some point but I really can't complain.
Trautman, Kmet, Bryant, Claypool, Asiasi (TE5) & Keene all graded out similar

This is where I'd love to have someone that knows what they're talking about look at my grades and adjust. Like "You have so & so here but maybe you didn't account for his size enough or how bad he was underutilized"

Anyway I really like these two. Both have the ability to play anywhere and I hope the gods we use that way. Wheels out of the backfield for Keene. I think Keene has a ton of potential here as an all around TE.

You can easily see he moves ... Has acceleration, speed to beat most LB/S for at least large gains. I think Bill will turn both into much better blockers. Remember the Tony Gonzo clip about blocking? Keene has that attitude, nastiness and effort. He can definitely get there.

Asiasi is 6'3/260, not enormous but plenty big enough let's be honest. He needs to clean up his initial footwork/steps , really utilize and take advantage of what length he has and use that 6'3 to get underneath his man. Play like he's 260 and get aggressive when you need to.

Now we need speed/quicks on offense. How about Mooney, Hightower, G Davis, Hill, Proche, Swain, DPJ

AGG as a big play red zone threat?

Who's left that you want?

QB?

You had Thaddeus Moss scored slightly higher than Keene. Moss went undrafted and signed with Washington. Was Moss undervalued then or is Keene overvalued ???

Moss has a broken bone in his foot.

Yeah, this should finally put the “Patriots draft for BPA” bull to bed. Dugger is the Chung replacement, and a need for any team that is effectively using nickel as a base. Uche is the Collins replacement and should end up being used all over the field. They drafted two TEs when that was perhaps their biggest need. I’m not overly high on Jennings, but they needed someone who could set the edge against the run. Now we have to hope, for Stidham’s sake, that Edelman stays healthy this year (50/50 shot) and Harry has spent the offseason watching tape of Michael Thomas and how he uses his body, particularly at the top of his route, to get open.

Moss was being undervalued. That stems from the injury and the fact that he can’t block worth a damn. He’s basically a big slot receiver.

Moss didn't run at the combine but the assumption was he would run something like a 4.9 which is basically unworkable in the NFL, that's what athletic offensive and defensive tackles run, it's what Eli Manning ran. He's got sure hands but you need more than that for the NFL as opposed to when you're like the fifth guy in line for targets on a historically good college offense.

A lot of pundits liked his blocking but sometimes blocking's a hit-or-miss thing in the pros, blocking college linebackers or corners is very different from blocking Bobby Wagner or Jason McCourty. There's a lot of projection. Izzo was this lead-footed supposed plus-blocker too and he's proven unable to be a blocker or receiver in the NFL. I thought Moss might go in the 6th-7th range but he's kind of a known quantity and GMs shop for gems and traits in those rounds. He might still make the Skins, their TE corps is really very bad.

Might as well put this here. I'm giving Bill 2 years before I make a solid judgment. I'm going to wait this year, next offseason, next draft and then make a judgment about where we're heading.
It's frustrating and not what we're used to at the society. We want to know right now. We want to compete for every Lombardi Trophy. That's just not the way things work, anymore.
The good news is the NFL is set up, financially, to be a two to three-year League. So while where cash strapped this year we're also coming off a 20 year Super Bowl run. Next year we're going to have a hundred plus million, a ton of draft picks and a much better outlook on the roster.
To gauge BB’s success, you need only read the part where Bacon says « That’s just not the way things work, anymore. »

Here is the truth. It NEVER worked that way - BB & Brady’s excellence is so ridiculously unprecedented that we have adult fans who have never cheered for an NFL team that wasn’t in « the guaranteed SB convo » !

Regardless of what happens next - anyone who uses 2020+ as the « proof » about Brady or BB is crazy. The Rolling Stones haven’t had a hit in YEARS ! What an awful group they are ! Trash !
