Gronk trade completed

Honestly, people trashing Belichick need to leave the fanbase. It's one thing to say Brady was more important than Bill, it's another to repeat the same old Cleveland Browns nonsense about Bill year after year. Brady is on record as saying Belichick is the GOAT coach - that should be enough for us. You would think after 6 super bowls that people would give him a chance to build another dynasty...

I pretty much turned in my card in the goodbye TB12 thread....but an honest question for you.

Why is his record pre NE "nonsense".

To steal a famous line from BB's mentor, aren't "you what your record says you are"?

BB would not have 6 World Championships without Brady. However, I remember one that was won due to BB's coaching. The interception that saved the Seattle game had been practiced all week. Butler knew Seattle was going to pass by the formation they were in. That is coaching. Yes, Brady put points on the board, but the game was won because of the defensive play.

yeah, and Bill’s defenses had nothing to do with SB 36, 38, 39, and 53...

What do the Gronk Lovers say about the 1st round pick that NE could have had for Gronk?

It's nonsense because after being NE's coach for 20 years and winning 6 super bowls, he deserves to show us what he can do without Brady. I mean, are we going to hold Vince Lombardi accountable for his mediocre 7-5 record with the Redskins?

You’re responding to a fact-based post with a hypothetical. That should tell you all you need to know about your argument. On the contrary, what coach has had as easy a job as Bill Belichick since 2001? Which one has had an All-World QB willing to play for less money under a hard cap when he was well within his rights and abilities to bend the franchise over a table?
In any sport, the most difficult thing to do is repeat. I don't care who you have as your star player. The Patriots had a dynasty since 2001. That was not because of Brady.

Highly unlikely they win SB53 if they had traded him to Detroit...plus, he used his leverage to nix the trade.

It’s nonsense because you can’t deal with facts. That has been apparent with everything you post.

Eliminate 38 as they collapsed in the 2nd half. You could argue they collapsed in 36 as well, but going against that Rams team is understandable.

53 was the most complete defensive effort. 39 was really good considering what they had in the secondary.

In fact, you could argue most of their defenses collapsed in their 9 Super Bowl appearances.

I think you're connecting two disparate points of thought which shouldn't be. I am certainly not arguing NE should kick him to the curb and he not get a chance to "show what he can do without Brady".

My point in this discussion has always been about that idea the BB wasn't always "BB"/The Hoodie/The GOAT.

Both of these things can be and are accurate and they aren't mutually exclusive.

1. BB was somewhere between forgettable and hot basura as a HC pre 2001. I mean Mahvin Lewis has a better regular season record and only one less playoff win than pre-2001 BB. I'm pretty sure no one here regards Mahvin in any high esteem.

2. His excellence over the last 20 years buys him the "goodwill" of the team and fan base for him to work his magic coming out of this 20 year period with the GOAT QB.

No I’m not. You make good points, but there some who continue to trash Belichick. These are all the Brady fan boys who should be Buccaneers fans by now..

Maybe. That raises an interesting question. If there is no season, what happens to player contracts. Do the owners just happily pay millions of dollars to guys who are sitting around? Or do they try to treat it like a retired/hold out scenario in which the contracts toll? If the latter, then they /wouldn't/ be out of cap hell in 21.
I have read that if the season is not played or if it is played before empty stadiums, the cap for 2021 will be lowered significantly, perhaps by $75 million, to make up for the shortfall in revenue. With regard to salaries, I would be surprised if the savvy and greedy NFL owners wrote player contracts that left them on the hook for canceled games.

His post 2001 record without the GOAT QB is 14-6. That is pretty good.

And that record is if anything understanding him as a HC given that he still had to spend cap space on the GOAT QB. And he did this while picking at the tail end of the draft.

But do you think those are good faith arguments?

You should really change your username and avatar. It makes you look even more clownish than usual, Brady fan boy.

Yup. Good. Only a tick less than his post 2001 with Brady record.

His GOAT QB didn't take cap space accordingly however. Further, that is one of the traits most commonly shared/pointed out/admired here about TB12. He took less than he could have rightfully demanded almost his entire tenure on the team, because not crippling the team's cap worked to his benefit/desire/drive to win.

Where Brady ranks on QB pay scale after deal

I've never had an issue with BB's 1st round picks. Largely, hes done pretty well there. Seymour, Warren, Vince, Mankins, Mayo, Devin, Solder, Chandler, High. Even Sony had a good first year.

I mean those guys certainly outweigh the so-so results of Graham and Watson, and the misses on Maroney, Meriweather, Easley, Brown.

I guess those who figure that Belichick rode Brady's coattails to success and a reputation as the GOAT coach are anticipating that post-Brady, Belichick will revert to his pre-Patriots form and be nothing more than a sub .500 coach. From the tone of some of the posts, it almost sounds as if a few are wishing for it.

Super Bowl and they don’t win because of him. He made critical plays in the playoffs.

Well a lot will depend on his drafting and who the QB is. If stidham is indeed that QB.

But do you think those are good faith arguments?

Absolutely not. Both Bill and Brady were needed each other to win 6 Super Bowls. Brady himself said Bill brought the best out of him.

Brady says the Jets are one of the best teams in the league. Now you’re onto using press conference fluff to make your argument? Lol.
