Brady will be guest on Howard Stern next week!

I think it will take some time for Brady and the Bucs to get used each other. The Bucs are used to Arians and his "let's have a beer after the game even if we lose" type mentality. Brady is much more interested in watching film and thinking about the next game after he loses. Plus no OTAs and most likely no training camp. Their QB coach Clyde Christensen was on recently and said Tampa won't change much of it's offense to suit Brady since they don't want to make the entire offense learn the NE playbook. Brady has to learn the TB offense and that was a condition of him getting signed there. I see a 1 year transition period where TB will be pretty good (10-6 with their incredibly tough schedule). In 2021 I see Tampa being better but Brady will be 44 by then, so who knows.
It very well could take a little time and obviously at TBs age that's precious time. But I'm not doubting Tom I think he'll pick it up real quick.
I think it's more likely TBs short game could bring some balance to Ariens down field attack and that things gel quickly.

It’s amazing how fast some of you guys have become toxic about a guy that was your hero just 5 weeks ago.

You realize you can root for the Pats and still like Tom Brady and perhaps even root for him to do well, if that is your choice, without any contradiction?

Tomba (his name choice not mine) has made a concerted effort to bombard our senses with his TB12/Fountain of Youth schtick for the past 2 years ad nauseum and it is very apparent he has only just scratched the surface of his self promotion ambitions.
I’ve been baffled by his execution.
His vomit inducing prescripted “interviews” with Jim Gray were as cringeworthy as it gets.
His almost daily “pliability” preachings during his lame duck final season all makes sense now.
Love the player
Not a fan of Celebrity Tom

It’s a shame Brady excelled in a sport whose apparel and gear are not consumer staples....like golf and Basketball.
Nike’s successful branding of Tiger and Jordan have allowed these players to achieve an immortality within our consciousness no football player has ever known.
It seems Brady wants part of that pantheon but has never had the corporate backing to achieve that pinnacle.
So, he’s taking up the slack himself....one cringeworthy endeavor at a time.
It will be interesting to see how it plays out.
Having Nike campaigns elevate is one thing.
Elevating yourself is another....
”Here’s why I’m so great” lacks finesse

During the Tom Terrific trademark story, he claimed the filing was to protect him from anyone using that label on him. Maybe he foresees announcers or others using the Tompa Bay or Tampa Brady phrases and wants a way to shut it down. It will be easy to find out: Whether or not we see merch with those phrases on them.

Regards,
Chris

To my knowledge he's the only NFL player filing for trademarks. You don't see Brees, Rodgers, or Mahomes doing it. Brady is clearly milking his celebrity status by treating himself as a business. Gronk and Edelman are similar, but to a much lesser extent.

Everyone mentioned sells things. It's called striking while the iron's hot or making hay while the sun shines. It's just that Brady's the hottest and brightest.

Sure, but the idea that Brady only cares about winning is simply not true. None of those other QBs I mentioned has stores around the country. Like I said, he's treating himself like a business.

Pretty sure you can use a TM as long as its not for commercial use. So an announcer or fan calling him Tompa Brady or whatever should be ok. If I mention the word "Coke" in a sentence, it's not a TM violation.

I'm not sure. Michael Buffer has won going after people who have used his LGRTR catchphrase, but I'm not well versed in the nuance of each case.

Anyway. what merch is sold with these phrases will be the ultimate proof of his motivations.

Edit: Jameis Winston should have trademarked LGRTF.

Great analysis.

Unlike a couple of other Toms from sport, old and young Tom Morris from golf, old and young Tom Brady are the same person. Brady has changed.

I don't get the feeling that Brady is doing all this for money but something's driving him.

I've never liked anything about Nike. Their apparel fits poorly and I'm sick of being bombarded with their logo.

This is an assertion.

This does not support the assertion.

I'm over Brady and don't even care what he's doing. So over him I had to prove it:

I like Tompa Bay but not Tampa Brady

There's some TBII or TBx2 type options.

He could be holding back on selling merchandise until after he leaves football. Filing for TM now gives him the right to hold onto it. But you could be right about just preventing others from using it...

"“It’s unfortunate,” Brady said in June. “I was actually trying to do something because I didn’t like the nickname and I wanted to make sure no one used it because some people wanted to use it. I was trying to keep people from using it, and then it got spun around to something different than what it is. Good lesson learned, and I’ll try to do things a little different in the future. …"

He, like many other athletes and entertainers, is into a lot of things. Right now, two of those things are football and selling, and he's great at both.

As mentioned up stream, Tom married Gisele when she was already one of the richest models in the world. That's true but he's catching up fast. I say good luck to the kid.

I'm not saying his business interests are good or bad. He's in Tampa now, so I could care less at this point. But him getting TMs for purely commercial purposes would irk me. If it's to prevent others from using it in association with his name or image, then it's fine. That's just me though.

The dude films himself on vacation pumping his brand. Didn’t see any handlers on horseback with him.

I know I'm not the only one who is interested in some of the behind the scenes of what the GOAT QB does, football related or otherwise. Not to the point of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, but I'm sure he knows that fans want a glimpse here & there into his off-field activities.

Ya I wouldn’t even entertain GB as a contender and TB has a better defense and more explosive offense than Seattle. I’d put NO/SF/TB in the top tier contenders in the NFC and we need to see how Bress does this year. SF vs TB is good but Brady will shrewd that defense as he always does and you can’t trust Jimmy G
Yes, he instantly makes them top 3.

Personally I See Tampa as the best team in the NFC now.

I see a SB hangover for SF.

The Saints have been so close the last few years but I think that window is getting smaller now. Brees is not the same.

Seattle I think will be the second best.

Green Bay should be right there but they seem to always find a way to underachieve.

Maybe I'm blinded by 20 years but I think TB instantly made them the best team in the NFC and he would have done that to a lot of rosters not just Tampa.
I still think SF will be a top team in the NFC but their Achilles heel on D all season was the 2nd outside CB. Sherman is also one more year older and broke down late in the Super Bowl.

I really did not like them trading Buckner and keeping one year wonder Arik Armstead who's been terrible until last season.

They still need to upgrade their WR's. Samuel is good find, but they need more.

Interior O-line are extremely weak in the pass game.

In no particular order I like SF, SEA and TB.

What Tampa has going for them is when you look at the numbers and the second half of the season they have the best defense of the contending teams. Teams simply can’t run on them and there two CB kept improving and were very good down the stretch.

JPP and Shaq Barrett are going to be teeing off on QB's when they are constantly ahead in games. They could add another guy in Clay Matthews as he said on the Pat McAffee show that he wouldn't mind signing there if TB was interested.

When it's not football season, he's kinda boring.

Unless the person watching is in the fanboy portion of the fan base. Cue the parody song from music "lady" by Lionel richey. :D then Stern starts asking about showering naked. Holy sheet.,.:D milking the fanboy audience.. haha.

Then they go back to crying about belichick.
