Brady gone

Were there any talks about retiring Patriots #12? I would assume nobody should ever wear this number for the Pats again.

I would like for Brady to be the one to make that call. I've always maintained it would be cool if Brady wanted the number to remain in circulation.

Tom Brady's Dad:
“Bill’s got a lot of responsibilities to keep the Patriots on track,” he said. “That is a bigger responsibility than keeping Tommy under the hood. Both of them are mature individuals. I really respect Bill’s decision and respect Tommy’s decision as well. It’s OK to take different paths. You don’t have to stay joined at the hip.”

What a shock that a guy who's raised an entire family and now grandchildren and has had to deal with his wife's serious cancer threat, etc. has perspective on Tom's latest career move.

Positive spin is easier to come by in California vs. Boston. especially if you hear talk radio. Yeesh.

I found it quite odd that Tom Brady Sr. said he hasn’t talked to his son much since signing with Tampa Bay.

I wonder if he drives .. the team must have schedule to work around the weather. Then there's the hurricane chance of force 5 making landfall. This year has been a disaster so its more likely.... o_O
Hmmmmmmm?
If only there was a way for a sports team to protect itself from inclement weather......

I was shocked to see this put out there by the Bucs' GM. I'd bet Tommy was too. An insane thing for them to say publicly. Makes it seem like Tommy was desperate.
Desperate ?

How about motivated... cuz the guy was in new situation . Get parameters set. Simple. Except it is odd to have it "out there"

People are reaching so bad to turn this into an egg on Brady's face situation. Licht told the press this story because he was impressed by Brady's professionalism and enthusiasm to join TB; this takes away the idea that Brady reluctantly join the Bucs. There's nothing else to it.

As in.. "yeah .. receivers are good. (50 mil guaranteed).. and I like the offseason work. (50 mil. Guaranteed)... and the Offense system is workable... ( 50 mil. Guaranteed)... okay, great thanks for chatting, gotta go cuz I got a tee time with my son. "

I think you giving Licht too much credit here. To many of us who've played in the corporate sandbox, this looks like he has made the first play in a game of CYA. He likely said this so that if for some reason Brady doesn't work out, he can claim that he didn't go after him.

Only time will tell who's right.

Giving him to much credit by not buying into the bizarre take that he’s trying to throw his legacy signing under the bus?

Did you read the article I linked to? Licht said, "It was almost like a recruitment on his part, telling us why it would make sense for him to come to Tampa Bay".

That is not anyone's "bizarre take". That's a literal statement that this was Brady's doing, not his.

Not that it matters at this point but it is truly a bizarre thing to say about your new star QB. And people wonder why Belichick keeps his mouth shut?

What are the odds that he does not play a single down for Tampa? It must be increasing. This whole situation sucks. I need my life back.

Very high odds that he does not play. There will not be any sports for a long time.
It is rather ironic that he willfully skipped OTAs the last 2 seasons and now that he wants to do them again they are cancelled. LOL.

I wouldn't get too caught up in what Licht said. I think Tom treated his call w/ he and Ariens as a job interview...as he should. It may seem unusual as someone with Tom's stature "selling" as opposed to normally being "sold" but Tom, a) knew his his market was light and b) I think thats who he is. He wants to earn it and by showing them as such is how you land a new job.
