Arians isn’t Belichick but he isn’t terrible strategy wise either. His issue is relationships. It amuses me that people talk about coaching decisions BB makes as being about his arrogance/ego when everyone who has spoken about BB thinks he’s as ego-free as they come. Arians, on the other hand, is an egomaniac. For as much as he’s heralded as the QB whisperer, he’s directed the adulation towards himself and throws players under the bus. It’ll be interesting to see how Brady handles that when it rears its ugly head.

He's transitioning to a new team. He's looking forward to blah blah blah, not talking about the past. I am transitioning to Stid. He's not dead to me, but he's not my team's QB. He's moving on. Me too. I am ready for the excitement of tuning in on Sunday to see what actually happens with the new guy.
BB wins and doesn’t let emotions rule his decisions. Glad he’s the coach and decision maker.
I'm kind of in the same mindset.Yep. All the gratitude in the world for TB, and best wishes for his future endeavors, but I was thoroughly seduced back in '85, so I'm all about the laundry til my dying day.
For reasons that I won't bother to elaborate (personal ones that belong in TL : DR hell), for far too long I felt pressure for my team of choice to succeed. Now, thanks to the TB era, they've far exceeded that need, so I have closure. Between that, and knowing that what I've witnessed is a once-in-a-generation thing, I can accept the 'new normal', and just sit back, relax, and enjoy the drama born of The Aftermath as if it were some crazy English-language telenovela
"Gotta play better, gotta coach better, that all starts with me."When will be the first game that gets lost because of coaching mistakes and game management..? I wanna see that press conference post game. .. we shall see..
Can you imagine if they go 12-4 or something?? Stid throws for 3500 yards and 30 Tds with maybe 10 picks? The haters will be jumping off... wait for it... cliffs. It would be rich.I'm kind of in the same mindset.
Last thing I want to endure is a 2-14, 5-11, multi-year period of suck-a-tude but there is a part of me that is kinda excited about this rebuild and the fun of the unknown. Maybe because like you I've been though it and know its awful but when the team turns around and has that unexpected playoff run...man its so much fun.
I think if we just win the division it will blow people's minds. I mean the Bills basically threw a virtual parade when Brady announced he was leaving. Can you imagine if they go 12-4 or something?? With Brady and Belichick, we had a team that was expected to win the Super Bowl every year, and actually accomplished it about 1 out of every 3 years. That’s ridiculously amazing.I'm kind of in the same mindset.

Shouldn't this be labeled OT now?

I am deeply suspicious of Arians' coaching "talent." (I can't find the direct quote, but I remember Arians one time calling himself a great coach -- which, as a Patriots fan, seems really weird.)I think Ariens is a fairly competent coach but I lost all respect for him with his comments after we beat them in the 2016 opener. He blamed everyone for the loss except himself. The GM and the owner did the same thing. They all bashed the players.
Thats just crap leadership.
It really comes down to what kind of person you are. Negative or positive. Optimistic or pessimistic. There is plenty of room to be a realist. With Brady and Belichick, we had a team that was expected to win the Super Bowl every year, and actually accomplished it about 1 out of every 3 years. That said, Belichick is still a good coach who surrounds himself with quality assistants and there is a solid ownership structure in place. We’re not going to see what we’ve seen anymore. Without a quality QB, I still have faith that the Pats could be like the Ravens so far this century - a Super Bowl win once a decade, a bad team once a decade, and a competitive team all the other years. With a decent QB (who isn’t and can never be Brady of course)? They could look like the Steelers - in it every year, win Super Bowls at a slightly better pace than the Ravens.
It’s not what we’re accustomed to, but I’d be thrilled if that’s what the post-Brady era looks like.
