To me it's not about lifting social distancing as much as everyone practicing it without a shelter-in-place approach. First, if you have symptoms, stay home. Stores can be open, but p
eople need to wear gloves when they go in.
Why can't a construction crew work on a new house, it should be pretty straightforward for them to keep their distance from each other, and disallow anyone who has symptoms. Offices and other busy workplaces can re-configure to provide more spacing, or go to 2 shifts to accomplish it, etc. Even restaurants could maybe open if tables were spread out, though that's trickier. Bars - no, cause the whole premise is face to face conversing. If every business and every person would practice social distancing, society could resume.
What we really need is something like a fingerprick 45min test. You show up to work, take the test, then go sit in your car for 45 min. If you're clear, come in and work. That doesn't help for customers, of course. Likewise an antibody test to identify immune people (assuming we get immunity if we get the disease).

Yes but if citizens don't practice common ****ing sense then it doesn't matter who leads.

I don't recall Obama getting any flack from the media for H1N1, do you? He was out playing golf on the day they declared it a national emergency if I recall. The media spun it as "Obama was trying to act normal so as to not cause a panic."

Where is the support that Musk produced these? This is what I could find. A good deed but much different than reality of making and producing 1000 ventilators in days.

Elon Musk acquires 1,200+ ventilators to address coronavirus shortage

He bought surplus ventilators. All appear to be FDA cleared devices which can be shipped to any US state. It would be illegal to import these without FDA clearance.

Looks like I probably jumped the gun on it a bit. He said they would make 1000 so when I heard that he came through with 1000 I assumed his company made them. So yeah I messed up.

but what he did in the time he did it is significant and commendable for sure

The problem now is how much to blame Trump for these deaths and how much to blame the people who aren't listening to the quarantine orders if there are major spikes? You seem to want to point the finger 100% to the President, which is more partisan than anything.

“Yeah, no, I don’t take responsibility at all, because we were given a set of circumstances and we were given rules, regulations, and specifications from a different time,” Trump said. “It wasn’t meant for this kind of an event with the kind of numbers that we’re talking about.”

Come on Tucker, this is your guy? I thought Republicans were the Party of "Personal Responsibility". Lmao

Obama was too busy taking crap for his birth certificate

We are in an era of monumental stupidity.

Look, hes a small business man, he gets it, I am sure he represents senior citizens unanimously with that nuanced point of view.

On a side note, I can foresee the tv debates on that show in 10 years, blaming the quarantine measures as the reason why the US loses the #1 spot in GDP to China.

I don't remember what he did. In fact, I don't even remember his presidency.

That's incredibly myopic of you. If you want to say he is partially to blame, then fine, I'd agree.

First, he did quite a bit, even with a hostile congress. Second, wouldn't it be nice to not have any idea what the president is doing because he was competent and di not have to say such bombastic awful things everyday?

well, Trump was too busy taking crap over a fake impeachment...one that had no shot at getting through the Senate and was admittedly done by Pelosi to put an asterisk on his presidency.

Look. I thought Obama's presidency was a colossal waste of an opportunity and he was horrible.

You've said your peace and I've said mine.

Back to virus discussion.

for way too long they were being told not to worry about it
It is nothing to worry about for 99% of the people. For 1% of the people it is something awful. It is that simple. Losing your jobs, losing your house, losing your car, not daring to get medical treatment because you are afraid to go to the Dr.s Suicide rate spikes, elderly not getting adequate care, those are all things to worry about too. This disease isn't ebola, if you catch it and are relatively healthy and under 70 you have a 99.5 percent chance of getting better, based upon current stats. The problem is 1% of 300 million people overwhelms the healthcare system, so we are trying to regulate the numbers who get sick.

your entire statement is completely baseless.....you lack the factual information to make this claim........the most dangerous thing is for someone who knows nothing to act like they know something

1% die. But 5% need ICU and 15-20% need hospitalization. So "nothing to worry about for 99% of the people" is total BS.
