Pats sign QB Brian Hoyer, LB Brandon Copeland

He's especially in a season that will be impacted to some extent (possibly significantly) by the current COVID19 situation. Very smart move by the team if they are intending to go with Stidham - Hoyer will be an invaluable resource for the kid.

We don't know the price tag yet but most probably among the vet QB choices that is a budget option.

This is the year they carry three quarterbacks (or even more) making this a great signing.

The Colts took a 5 million cap hit. What a ridiculously horrible signing for them.

To me this shows were comfortable with stidham over any of the bigger name FA out there (Winston, Newton once released).

I love how other teams keep paying for Hoyer when he is with us. First it was SF now the Colts.

Get ready for the most boring offense since 1993. Ugh, zero quality talent on this offense. Yuck! Let’s hope my prediction of 5-11 turns into 3-13 so we can land Trevor Lawrence and actually become a good offense again.

5 years of awful drafting on offense led us to this point. No more Brady to mask the weaknesses

Worry not, we have BB to stregnthen all weaknesses.

I would think so, and draftee either takes the backup role (hoyer released)or we keep 3/attempt to place draftee (if late rounder) to practice squad
Just makes sense to carry 3 this year when everything is in transition at the position.

He's valuable in this role or backup to younger Brady for close to the minimum.

How do teams not know this?

Stidham is the guy I guess. Hope he turns out to be good, because I'd rather stab myself in the eye than watch Hoyer.

Copeland had 5 sacks & 25 hurries in 2018 when the Jets ran a 3-4 defense. Good scheme fit here.
My question would be: who will step up on the edges this year with KVN and Jamie gone?

Winovich will likely really have to step up in year two. I like John Simon and this guy as well, but they’re rotational role players.

What about the draft though?

Remember we have the 23rd pick. Decent chance one of the likes of Herbert or Jordan Love fall to that range.

If they take a QB early then Kessler is a goner and you have a bona fide QB competition during camp.

Find a franchise QB or get ready for another 1990-1993 run folks

This is what I'm hoping/assuming will happen. Really don't get why people hang onto every tweet and article just waiting to post "welp, guess we have proof it's definitely Stidham this year" when the draft hasn't even happened yet.

I think the only thing we can take away from what's happened so far is the team doesn't love the free agent QBs and would rather go with Stidham than any of those guys. That doesn't mean they don't want to draft someone.

So they roll with Stidham.

I’m good with that.

Deja - Vu all over again.

Next Jersey a Stidham red throwback ?

Could be...

Copeland waa the 2020 Allan Page award winner for his work in the community.

He took 300 kids at Christmas and gave them $200 to shop with.

that’s great, I hear Mohammad Sanu recently earned his merit badge! What a player that guy is!
