Very good signing. Finally some good news.

The last SD safety to come here did OK
I have a sneaking suspicion that you are talking about Harrison when then last sd safety we had was Steve Gregory. Most people forget about Steve.

I wondered if there was someone. There was

I would say 35 TD 4 picks...I can live with that!!:):)

Is he a replacement for Harmon or Chung?

Actually Steve Gregory also did pretty decent if my memory isn’t completely shot

I thought so too. His early retirement came as a surprise if I remember correctly.

Why is cap'n sad?
I guess I'm sad because these types of signings - backups with more experience on STs than on their listed positions - seem to the priority with Bill during the past couple of offseasons.

Phillips plays more like Chung than Harmon, but for now, he's Ebner's replacement...SloJuan & ObiWon are Harmon's & Chung's potential replacements...

Didn't we hear the same feckin thing about Terry Brooks this time last year and he ended up sucking the worst when we needed him the most?

Brooks had way less positional experience going in, and was also a less decorated special teamer. Pretty much a poor man's Phillips. Now we have both.

Folks seem to be worrying about the final roster. We need to have competition in camp. There is zero reason to cut Brooks. Chung is in danger only if we have an immediate need for the cap money.

We've lost Harmon and Ebner. We added Phillips. We need to ADD a safety for camp, more than we need to cut someone else.

But Phillips has already done it (in 2018). Not everything that BB does is bad.

MODS: Merge threads??

We also need to add some genuine talent.

Look at their stats. Completely different results. Phillips lines up at LB, FS, SS & excels at ST’s. He was really taking off until his arm broke. I can’t wait to see how BB uses him. I don’t remember that being said by many with Brooks.

When you blow your drafts, you are forced to rely more on free agents.
