I’m not arguing semantics, your overall stance that we only have 1 or 3 good contracts isn’t close to correct. It’s all good, I’m pretty emotional right now. It’s coming to an end. Lots of **** catching up with us.

Ignoring the draft, the Patriots will basically field the same team as last year, minus KVN, Collins, and potentially Brady. Meanwhile, the Dolphins significantly upgraded their defense (while potentially adding Tua), and the Bills added Diggs.

The Patriots are also out of cap space unless Joe Thuney gets moved, which is another loss for the Patriots.

This means the Patriots will need to hit home runs in the draft, and judging by the past two drafts, that's probably not going to happen.

The Dolphins spent a sht ton of money on a bunch of high priced free agents. This is almost always a losing strategy. They might be a little better in 2020...they’ve also probably screwed themselves long term and will be back in the same position a few years from now with a zillion dollars in cap space, which isn’t a good thing.

I remember that offseason where all the AFC East teams “closed the gap” on the Patriots. The one where Buffalo signed Mario Williams, the Dolphins signed Suh, etc. it blew up in their faces as always.

Buffalo made potentially a good move for Diggs, but they’re wasting their window if they roll with Josh Allen. Either they’ll come to their senses and make a strong pitch to Brady or another strong FA quarterback, or their entire 2-3 year run of great moves is a giant waste of time. They are going nowhere with Allen, and all the smoke and mirrors and fake completion percentage stats and wishful thinking amounts to zilch.

The Patriots aren’t big losers because each signing is about value and smarts. And it isn’t just about this moment but long-term team building. The Dolphins move ps are idiotic from a value standpoint; 100% chance that rears its ugly head later.

I would assume that the Dolphins will draft Tua. Surround a QB on a rookie contract with a bunch of talent seems to be the rage right now, and it paid off for the Chiefs. The Rams were in the Super Bowl only a year ago, and the Ravens got a MVP out of their second-year QB. Unless Tua busts, I think it's safe to assume that the Dolphins are gearing up for a Playoffs run this year. That's not to mention their interest in Brady, as well.

I would be much more optimistic on the Patriots if it weren't for the huge whiffs in the draft as of late. Objectively, the Patriots have not drafted well in the past two years. Long-term building only works if we can continuously add young talent to the roster.
