BGC 2020 WR'S/PTP Thread

I’m hoping Jalen Reagor or KJ Hamler gets drafted by the Pats. They are exactly what this offense needs. World class speed. Total weapons in the Mecole Hardman mold. If they double dip, which they should’ve done last year, I’m hoping for Reagor (my preference) or Hamler, and then a bigger receiver like Antonio Gandy-Golden, or Omar Bayless, or Denzel Mims or Chase Claypool.

Wouldn’t shock me if they didn’t draft any receivers, but the above scenario + a pass catching TE would be ideal to rebuild this offense.

I'd be very happy with Reagor & Mims. Edwards too as a complementary big boy.

bowden is very interesting, as a qb/rb/wr/returner/special teams demon, He could bring a lot of versatility to a roster and bb loves versatility.

I think Bowden goes in the 3rd/4th round and potentially in the late second if he tests well at the combine.

It's all about projection, what the prospect will do at the next level. Teams aren't looking at him as strictly a WR. That would be completely short-sighted. He played WR, RB, QB & ST. He's a playmaker, chess piece. Should test well considering how well he breaks tackles & how good his burst is from stop/start.

If I'm Balt, Buff, KC, Houston I'm all over these types.

The last play of Bowden's collegiate career wasn't supposed to be him throwing a touchdown, but a season-ending injury to quarterback Terry Wilson in Week 2 forced coach Mark Stoops to improvise. After struggling through a few games with a traditional offense, Stoops converted Bowden from a receiver to a do-everything hybrid who took snaps out of the backfield and led a run-heavy attack capable of the eight-minute, game-winning drive it produced against the Hokies.

He's primarily been a receiver while at Kentucky as he demonstrated in his 2018 season.

In my opinion, he's the perfect Edelman replacement, who's had a similar career path, because of his agility, speed and, most importantly, physicality which is often an overlooked characteristic for Patriots' receivers.

Drafting him with Edelman here as a mentor/teacher would be a great way of gradually easing him into our system as a WR and also add a special teams weapon.

The more tape I watch of Henry Ruggs the more I fall in love.. wherever he gets drafted too he will tear it up. 4.2 speed, solid enough routes, goes over the middle oh and his vertical is fairly good.. 39.5.. he’s a freak.

bb tends not to draft track guys. But in the case of Ruggs, I think he is more of a football player than track guy.

I am not sure he makes the patriots draft board because Brady is not that great throwing downfield.

Antonio Gibson, Memphis. This dude is ridiculously talented. RB, WR, KR 6’1 or 6’2” 220 and probably runs a 4.35. He’s my true binky for the 2020 draft. Great runner, can run deep pass patterns, great hands, but was listed as a RB at the Senior Bowl, played excellently at the Senior Bowl.

Just a ridiculous weapon. I pray we grab him, because he’s gonna be a beast in the NFL. He’s the kind of guy who can do so much for a team. Watch the video vs SMU, he was unstoppable (SMU was undefeated at the time). They had him playing WR in the game, but in the game, he ran for a TD as a RB, caught a TD pass (a bomb), and ran a kick back for a TD.

Think of another Cordarrelle Patterson, but I think he can be a better receiver, yet will be drafted as a RB (crazy right ?). And he may not get drafted until the later rounds. Someone’s gonna get themselves an incredible weapon.

We need guys like him.
I love him as well. I'd love to list him as a RB, give him some sweeps, motion him, a toss here & there. Play him out of the backfield but run routes.

What about a possible FB convert in
J Degaula, he's 6'2 - 245/250. I'm surprised we haven't found a guy like Marcel Reese tbh. I absolutely loved him. WR to FB. Always thought he's a PTP.

Anyway I want to see more creativity from us with prospects. So many different athletes that don't fit the traditional mold for WR, RB, TE but can really play the game. Worth a shot if we can do it with Roberts. Why not have that added dimension of a rec target?

If they were going to draft a receiver at 23 which is highly unlikely, my choice would be Jalen Reagor. Gifted with speed, hands routes which are going to show up big at the combine sadly. Still think he’ll be there but there will be no passing on him cuz he isn’t getting to round 2.

JR gives you so much as well. One problem I always had with Boyce was he couldn't utilize his speed throughout the route. He was fast as **** but couldn't use it everywhere. JR was some moves on the line that make you laugh. Very fluid throughout his route. Good job at creating a lil room when he has to make it happen. Not afraid to go get the ball. At 6' he's made some ridiculous grabs. Gives you production from ST.

Him and Hamler get compared at times and he's like a Hamler 2.0 imo. Lil bigger, lil more physical.

Honestly, I just want some speed on the offense. WE have ZERO explosiveness on this team. I would love a speed receiver who could also help in the return game, there were several last year (WTH didn't BB double dip last year ?), and there are several this year. We need this draft to be like 2012, where Belichick realized he needed playmakers on defense, and drafted Jones and Hightower (paid almost immediate dividends, winning a SB 2 years later). Now 2020, Belichick needs to realize he needs playmakers on the offense. I want at least one speed receiver/returner and AT LEAST ONE pass catching TE.

Among draft-eligible wide receivers, Reagor saw the fourth-lowest rate of catchable targets at 61.4% (for perspective, that’s 12% lower than the average; the highest rate was Justin Jefferson at 89.6%). At the same time, he had his fair share of errors too by posting the 10th-worst drop rate in this year’s class at 13%.
