2020 mock drafts: what the pundits think

Bet your money on Delpit. He would be another Patriot early round bust.
He missed 20 tackles in 2019.
The famous Jordan Richard school of tackling

I think it will be OL or another run stuffer , I hope for a wr with some decent speed and ability and a tight end and....and .....and......and

However after seeing how Brady and this years wr's connected, maybe not

I hope Laviska Shenault is at 23. IMO, this kid has #1 receiver written all over him. & although there are other very good WRs available, none of them have the size/speed/YAC game that he does (I'm assuming the other top receivers will be gone before then, like Lamb and Jeudy). Some WRs I don't want at all, like Tee Higgins. But Shenault has me very interested.

I like Tee Higgins. I think all the top receivers will be gone by 23 (Jeudy, Lamb, Shenault & Higgins). Higgins is ridiculously productive, a true 6'4' 215lbs (Pats list Harry at 6'4" 225, I believe the 225, not the 6'4"). Most catches in Clemson history, that says a lot.

That being said, I prefer they take the best PASS CATCHING TE at 23. That is one area that is sorely lacking. Of course, this is all dependent on what they do in Free Agency. If they sign a good pass catching TE and a decent WR, they can focus elsewhere.

A thought that keeps creeping into my mind is, what if Belichick doesn't want Brady back, because he seems to key in on certain receivers (Edelman & White) too much. Early in Brady's career, he said always hit the open man, didn't matter if it was a top receiver, or a guy they signed from the practice squad. If you're open, 95% of the time, you are getting the ball. And don't give me that BS that guys aren't getting open. Brady was missing open receivers this season.

Maybe now, it's not the receiver's fault, maybe this is on Brady, at least partially. I seem to notice that a lot the last few years, when Gronk was here, he would only focus on Gronk and Edelman. That didn't happen even a few years back, like in 2016, the ball would be spread out amongst everyone.

White 60 catches
Edelman 98 catches
Hogan 38 catches
Bennett 55 catches
Mitchell 32 catches
Gronk 25 catches (injured)
Amendola 23 catches (more productive in the playoffs)

I wonder what a different QB would do with this WR staff. They might not have that trust issue Brady seems to have now, where he only trusts certain guys. I look at what Wentz had to work with, and at the end of the season, it was brutal for him, way worse than what Brady had, yet they still won their last 4 games before the playoffs.

I'm not saying Brady can't be great anymore, I think he can, but he seems to key in on certain guys, when other guys are open. If he just went back to the way he used to play (hit the open man), I think the offense would be more diverse.

Higgins though, the scouts say, cannot get separation. He physically dominates opposing DBs.

The way I look at it, Higgins will either be as good as DK Metcalf, or a poorer version of Harry. I don't think the Patriots can risk a duplicate of Harry.

I agree we shouldn't go receiver if Jeudy, Lamb and Shenault are gone, bu it does seem people like the other Bama receiver in the first round as well.

Looks like a better Version or Donte Stallworth

My first impression watching Shenault was...he reminded me N'Keal Harry from college highlights. Strong, decisive and powerful WR. If we keep 23rd pick and somehow BB decides to grab another WR ( highly doubtful for me ) he should get one of speedy WR like Ruggs or Reagor who can spread the field and will be a natural replacement for Edelman ( he will be 34 in May ).
I think we still have high hopes on Harry, we will sign a proven, veteran WR and grab WR in draft but not in the first round.Just saying.

Yeah, i'm not a huge fan of Shenault, doesn't pop off the screen for me. I'm a huge fan of Ruggs and think he would be devastating in our Offense. He can easily play on the outside or in the slot, same goes for Reagor. I would say they both are different to Edelman. I'm going to look at slot guys later on today.

Sound like a broken record but when building all the mock drafts I wish we still had our 2nd round pick we are going to miss out on some potential unless there are some trades of picks coming

amen brother!

unless kinlaw or Espinoza falls to us at 23, there just is not enough first round graded talent to stay at 23. We should trade back and pick up a second, third and hopefully a fifth!

four third round picks solves a lot of depth issues.

AJ Epenesa reminds me of Richard Seymour, can play 3-4 DE and more than likely DT in a 4-3 as well as DE too. Would be a great pick if he falls to us.

In the cbs mock draft today, they have Espinoza falling to us at 23.

Lance Z with a mock out yesterday. Look who is available at 23?

Lance Zierlein NFL mock draft 1.0: Raiders pick WR Jerry Jeudy

Don't like our pick. Cesar Ruiz. But, he's got Ruggs, Epenesa, Josh Jones - LT and k. Murray - lb. I'd go Epenesa. But, Ruggs would be hard to pass up. I think Ruggs might break combine 40 yard dash record and that will certainly move him higher up the board.

I've seen this mock draft as well.
My thoughts were:
CeeDee Lamb, Epenesa and Ruggs so late. If Ruggs or Epenesa are still available at 23. i hardly doubt that we wouldn't took one of them

The Pats need to go OL in the first round. Skill players make no difference if the defense is in the Patriots' backfield.

C Creed Humphrey, Oklahoma will be there at 23.
