Baseball has had worse cheating scandals throughout history. The proof of how "massive" this latest scandal is lies in what punishments are dealt. Nothing short of being forced to forfeit the World Series title and permanent banishment of the perpetrators should be considered acceptable. Do you really believe MLB will do that? The reason nobody cares is BECAUSE it's baseball -- a tradition-bound, anachronistic, dying sport where bending rules gets a slap on the wrist and everyone (from commissioner to fans) is used to looking the other way. Administration of this sport in general at the pro level is so flawed it can't be taken seriously. It isn’t massive? Wait a second here. So having a system to alert hitters to what type of pitch is coming isn’t massive. You have got to be kidding me. That is the basic essence of the game. I throw, you guess what I am throwing. You take that out of the equation then what do you really have? And no that type of cheating isn’t common in baseball.
This is akin to say the Pats patching into TBs headset 5 seconds before the snap to alert him to something and even then that isn’t a fair equivalency.
