OT: Astros caught cheating to win their title!

It isn’t massive? Wait a second here. So having a system to alert hitters to what type of pitch is coming isn’t massive. You have got to be kidding me. That is the basic essence of the game. I throw, you guess what I am throwing. You take that out of the equation then what do you really have? And no that type of cheating isn’t common in baseball.

This is akin to say the Pats patching into TBs headset 5 seconds before the snap to alert him to something and even then that isn’t a fair equivalency.
Baseball has had worse cheating scandals throughout history. The proof of how "massive" this latest scandal is lies in what punishments are dealt. Nothing short of being forced to forfeit the World Series title and permanent banishment of the perpetrators should be considered acceptable. Do you really believe MLB will do that? The reason nobody cares is BECAUSE it's baseball -- a tradition-bound, anachronistic, dying sport where bending rules gets a slap on the wrist and everyone (from commissioner to fans) is used to looking the other way. Administration of this sport in general at the pro level is so flawed it can't be taken seriously.

There literally is nothing worse. Nothing. Gambling, PEDs you name it. It is starting to grow as more details come out so let’s wait and see what happens. Bans need to come that’s for sure.

OK, I'll name it: https://www.history.com/news/the-black-sox-baseball-scandal-95-years-ago

Here is a further laundry list: Major League Baseball scandals - Wikipedia

But again, unless the Astros WS win is reversed and the perps are permanently banned, MLB will remain a laughingstock not to be taken seriously in comparison to other pro sports.

The punishment doesn’t dictate how major the scandal is. The actual usage of the buzzers makes the event the worst baseball has ever seen. Yes the Blacksox scandal was the worst punishment. This should be as equal if not worse.

Absolutely revoke their championship
Fine organization $50 mill
Lifetime ban for all involved
And if the Saux championship is equally tainted thanks to Cora and his cronies....ditto

Also nullify their stats, take away MVPs etc if cheating is proven.

This would be like if the conspiracies were true that Brady was told what defensive play was coming or if the defense was told the offense is going to run or pass ahead of time. Or if that Rams walkthrough tape existed.

Any of that stuff would have ruined the Pats Super Bowls for me.

I can’t see the Astros getting stripped of a title but their WS championship is certainly tainted now. *

I wonder what else the investigation will uncover. It is curious how pitchers in the last few years went to Houston and got REALLY good there. Or pitchers in decline like Verlander start winning Cy Young’s again. There are rumblings about how this happens but no proof... yet.

Last guy to do that was Roidger Clemens and we all learned how he did it.

I can’t see the Astros getting stripped of a title
Why? If it is proven they cheated to win it, nothing else makes sense.

they will be fined millions of dollars and lose a few years of first round draft picks. Other than that, i would be surprised if MLB does anything more. We will see

So for years these losers knew the pitch that’s coming and only won a single championship? That’s some serious ineptitude.

Does Cora not come from that tree? They have always been a bit shady to me. Does not bother me. Just pointing it out.
Cora may be in trouble here.

So the Astros AND Red Sox got caught cheating to win their titles?

Fire Cora & anyone else who came with him from Houston to Boston.

no choice but to fire Cora

Some crazy stories out there about the Astros like Altuve demanding nobody rip off his jersey (it’s on video) after his walkoff because he could have had a wire under there telling him what pitch was coming. His explanation of it wasn’t very convincing.

Its like all the wackiest conspiracy theories about the Patriots over the years becoming real life.

Now the buzzer story is coming to life and there might be something to it. WTF
