We Gave Up A 2nd Round Pick For Sanu

That drop against Miami where he probably had an easy 40 yard TD on the short crosser hot route was just of many examples of the playbook not being the only issue. There’s also the incredibly lazy non-stretch play where couldn’t pick up an easy first down. He doesn’t do basic veteran things like come back to the ball and fend off defenders. He was supposed to have tremendous hands and literally was the worst looking receiver I’ve seen wear a Pats uniform when it came to catch rate. Even his 10 catch game when he was healthy showed how bad he is. He had 10 catches on 14 targets for 80 yards. He’s incapable, even when healthy, of any YAC. So basically he can’t catch contested passes, he can’t catch uncontested passes as a passable rate, he can’t gain any YAC, and he looks like he doesn’t care.

Dude is a massive bust and it would be insane to bring him back. Let him go back to some organization that expects to finish 6-10 and he can get some mop up production in garbage time.

Sanu Never had 1000yds receiving in his career but then again who's counting.:D

Never thought I’d miss LaFell’s .01 yards after catch. At least he caught the damn ball lol

LaFell had a dropping issue during the 2015 season iirc. And I think it was while he was coming back from an injury.

Anyway Sanu is better than what we saw but coming back from an injury and learning a new system may have given him the yips.

We'll see.

What do you think about Randall Cobb? A lot of people thought he was done but he had a solid year for the dallas cowboys. Can still get open.

I wouldn’t bring him back at that number. There’s risk involved.

Guys like R Cobb -AJ Green and E Sanders only if Brady stays they are all in their 30's. if they are going in another direction just start over.

I'd put another way.

Sanu got reps instead of Myers because 70% of Sanu was worth much more than what the team might expect from a healthy Meyers.

.

They miscalculated in going with Sanu over Meyers in Miami game and the postseason. Meyers was a wild card with some impressive talent but boom-or-bust with his inexperience. Sanu was bust-or-bust. It was disappointing to watch such a poor choice by McDaniels for an entire two game stretch. By no means am I saying Meyers is some amazing, unlocked player who would have produced; I'm saying he would have had a chance to produce. And when the team scores just 13 points including 0 in the second half, well...

Dorsett-Harry or Meyers-Harry probably both would have been enough to score over 13 points. Probably the most infuriating aspect of the Sanu trade is how he actually got more and more snaps the worse he played. That he was the featured #1 receiver against the Titans is just an abominable decision by McDaniels, Brady, or whoever made it. It's gutless and akin to waving the white flag. You'd rather have a totally useless veteran who won't embarrass you (but certainly will do nothing to help you win) than a higher ceiling but riskier rookie who may break off a few big plays.

I think cobb is one of those guys that would excel here. He’s gonna be 30. To me he’s a 3rd but he can get open and make plays.

Do they have a choice? Sincere question

Yes. They can cut him and save that money for someone else. There’s no dead money. We shall see. Meyers to me can be our next slot receiver. The guy still ended up with more yards than sanu even thought he hardly played that’s how bad sanu looked.

Best post ever Ice.Brady...Sanu play almost 100% of the snaps every game and didn't produce jack $h!t. I saw Meyers stat line in some of those games a measly 2 snaps which was mind boggling. Dorsett was just as useless as Sanu getting more snaps than the Rookie and have nothing but a bagel to show for it. I would volunteer to drive them both out of Dodge.

You are correct. The patriots could cut Sanu and replace him with Meyers and save $6M of cap money. Somehow, I suspect that the patriots will bring Sanu to camp and THEN decide that he has better options.

Who else? There's no player as good as Sanu who will be available on the open market for a similar price.

I just don’t understand why they went away from Meyers. He was the only guy capable of getting a catch downfield.

AB and Gordon picked it up in a matter of weeks Hmmmm Sanu must be an idiot Dorsett was clueless too. And Brady spent a lot of time with Sanu trying to get him up to speed.

Gordon most certainly did not pick it up, and Brown ran specific simple routes on scripted plays and then was basically removed from the game.

I am amazed how you insist on making a case for Sanu...BB needs brain surgery if he keeps Sanu the guy flat out sucks and that can be plainly seen.

6.5 million for what exactly? You think he can give us a season like 2018. I think cobb is better option than sanu but idk what he will get in the market.

Gordon I can understand to a point but AB would have because he's an Excellent Route runner better player pound for pound than Edelman and yeah I love Edelman.

Draft Three Rookie WR's in the Third Round with our comp picks somebody gotta stick.:D

Perhaps the strategy should be to cut Sanu in the hope that someone else out there can replace him at the same price. NOT!

Next year, we have Edelman (who could retire or be traded to play with brady) and Harry. We need at least 3 more. If BB knows a player than he can sign for $6.5M a year, he'll do it. AND, he would then EXTEND Sanu, not cut him.

We would then have 2 WR's for the same cap money, both on 2-4 contracts. AND, Belichick would still looking to add a WR or draft one.

Edelman, fa, Harry, Sanu
