We Gave Up A 2nd Round Pick For Sanu

I think Sanu could be a decent piece next year. Not convinced he is "useless" but YES, 2nd rounder was a lot. I think with a full off-season he will be much improved, as will Harry.

At the end of the day with a Healthy Edelman, Sanu, and Harry with full offseasons (doesn't apply to Edelman much) and the addition of Develin and Andrews back into the line-up, we are already going to see a big difference.

If we can sign a solid TE (or two?) as well - that gives us SO much more flexibility in this offense.

On top of that - ONE WR that can create separation would be HUGE. I was a big fan of having a guy like Brandin Cooks on the roster - but I digress.

Not at 6.5 million dollars for sanu. 8 games 26 rec for 207. That’s mediocre. I was shocked at how bad he was. If he doesn’t take a discount i rather cut him and get yourself a legit number 3. A guy like randall Cobb who many here thought was done but just had a very good year for the cowboys.

It's probably true that Harry as a pure WR sucks just as bad as Sanu. His Patterson-like gadget utility makes him useful in a way Sanu isn't, however.

I am not giving up on him yet. I think it’s unfair despite his huge problem of not getting separation but we have seen receivers who are not fast yet can still get separation.

Harry is not quick either the Problem with Harry is his route running is very sloppy almost nonexistent for a Big Guy. Harry is going to have to work hard this Off-season on how to use his body. Harry wont get faster or quicker overnight that you can plainly see on tape. Pats must have crossed up Harry's tape with someone else's in the evaluation process. Harry was the worse fit for the Patriots and Brady.

His release off the line was something to be scared off.

Full offseason of Sanu and Harry working out with Jules / Brady could do wonders. "quick releases" can be improved upon... doesn't need to be the best in the league but if he can work on his releases he could be fine.

With Harry's athleticism, leaping ability, and a big frame.. he does NOT need the same type of separation that some slot receivers need...

Or we could bring back AB :p

Sanu is good as gone.

Edelman wasn't exactly great his 1st year at WR. Give Harry at least another year I think

He looked bad this year. Makes me wonder if he was just getting good stats in Atlanta because of Julio.

Patriots have by far the worst front office at evaluating wide receivers

Sanu for a second

Harry over DK?

Dobson over Keenan?

Boyce? Price? Tate? Jackson?

YUCK

or in CIN bc of Aj Green and (MJones)

Sanu got passed by a rookie WR like 3 games in for WR2 in ATL

You'd almost think that pure dumb luck would at least produce something from that.
That's why i had 0 expectations for Harry. We picked him, of course he's going to suck.
Pats better not draft a ****ing RB,WR or DB before like round 4 ever again.

Sanu has been talked up a lot for his abilities by other players in the league (cannot find quotes at the moment), part of me thinks that a good portion of the fan negativity towards him comes from his yappy chatter from being mic’d-up in the Pats/Falcons SB.

That said, I was definitely expecting his versatility to be used by McDaniels, especially as the offense struggled. Hasn’t Sanu thrown like 5-7 TDs? Why not use him on second pass plays, gadgets, anything to help keep drives moving. He could have been a RPO type weapon, but they had him just running routes as a #2 without a strong or healthy #1 counterpart.

They might have to Double dip again and knowing them they might end up with another Aaron Dropson and Josh Boyce combo.

They must've accidentally had their VCR on fast forward when watching his scouting tape. Dude looks like he's lightly jogging when in a route.

Even Ray Charles knew what Harry did on Tape wasn't against anybody going Pro. Harry was literally out jumping High School CB's no route concept at all with CB's glued to him. That won't cut it even against a average CB in the Pros: Guys like Harry flame out a lot on this level.

As bad as our WR drafting has been I'm going to give Harry one more year before the dreaded bust label. He is a beast when he has the ball and doesn't shy away from contact. He was just mismanaged this year. The whole IR thing to fit DT on the roster really screwed Harry's year up in terms of building trust with Brady.

Dimitroff must have thought someone was prank calling him when he was offered a 2nd round pick.

Sanu makes the Burgess trade look great in retrospect. I hated this trade the moment I heard it. Sanu has always been mediocre. Really he is a poor man's Brandon LeFell.
