Crowd chanting "Let's go Red Sox"

Tune, you can root for whatever team you like, but do you see any contradiction in calling them the Bankof America Sox, while you sit every weekend in Gillette Stadium? I mean, the Pats have an official MRI provider...you think Kraft handed out that designation for free?
The Pats are every inch the big business that the Sox are, as is virtually every major league team in every pro sport.

My tongue-in-cheek point being: The owners of Boston's baseball team buy their championships at the bank, as in, the second-highest payroll in professional sports -- far outspending their competition (minus the Yankees, of course).

The Patriots have no such financial advantage.

What's this got to do with the here and now? Stay on topic, numbnut. But as long as you're going there, I seriously doubt you'll find the financial disparity between pre-cap era NFL teams to be anywhere near where it is with MLB. Honestly, didn't you flat-out EXPECT Boston to beat Cleveland because of payroll differential? Don't you EXPECT them to beat Denver for the same reason? (I.e., stacking the roster with better players because they can afford to.)

Given the Sox are in the World Series, all I have to say about that is...

.....Yeeeaaaaaahhhhhhh...Baaaaabbbbbbbyyyyyy! :rocker:

punkass chump!

Belichick opened his press conference by congratulating the Red Sox. Quick, someone tell him he's pissing off his players!

Tunescribe rules!

From today's BB press conference:

Q: Do you have a World Series prediction?
BB: "No. My focus is on Washington and that’s where it needs to be. They’re a good football team coming in here. They’ll be ready to go and I have a lot of respect for Joe Gibbs and his staff -Gregg Williams, all of them. They’re tough. They’ve won four and they could have easily won a couple more, so we’ll have our hands full. That’s all I’m worried about right now."

Translation: "I could give a rat's ass."

Ahh, but the first line of the pc...

Politically correct niceties are to be expected. Ask him again if baseball chants break out Sunday while Brady has the ball.

There you go that proves it...by the way what is BB's prediction for the Was/Pats game???? I think it is like this...

Q: Do you have a prediction for the upcoming game?

BB:"No. My focus is on Washington and that’s where it needs to be. They’re a good football team coming in here. Translation: Is it ..... ?"I could give a rat's ass"

NO!....it is "I don't make predictions on anything and my JOB is the Pats"

Nothing in there indicates BB has your insane hatred of the Sox....You actually seemed to missed the part where he congratulated the Sox on the Pennant!

Do you root for any baseball team? This might explain your obsession if you are a closet Yankee or Met fan....or do you just hate baseball? Just come clean. I find baseball kind of boring and hate what the NBA has become, but I would never attack fans o the local team for rroting for other sports what gives you are really fanatic about your attacks.

Let's just call the Red Sox chants political niceties if it makes you feel better, because they're not going to go away while the Sox are in the playoffs. There are people in the stands who like the Sox, and since they paid for a ticket they're entitled to chant whatever they want. Build a bridge, man.

This is so silly, if you grew up around here (Boston) and are a "sports" fan, why can't you root for both the Patriots AND Red Sox? As stated above by many people, I'm sure the vast majority of people attending Sox games are Pats fans, and vice versa.

I know I'll be at game two Thursday night cheering the Sox, and then Sunday afternoon I'll be at Gillette cheering for the Pats...and I don't see anything wrong with that, as a matter of fact I'd say that is...gasp..."normal".

Oh and go BC! (I'm not a bandwagon fan, I actually graduated from there...yes go ahead and make your petty jokes, just like Felger would).

Like a moth to a flame, I am drawn to this thread and have to comment upon it, for it is certainly the STUPIDEST thread I have read on this board...

I understand some people prefer football to baseball, the Pats over the Sox, etc. and that some may root exclusively for one or the other. But, I am 49 years old, and "learned" my sports from my parents, both of whom are over 80. The VAST majority of Boston sports fans root for ALL of the teams. It ebbbs and flows due to the relative success or lack therof (but, even now the Bruins regualry sell out...) I can think of scores of my family, friends, co-workers, etc. who right now are taking equal joy in both the Pats and the Sox. If someone out there doesn't like one to the exclusion of the other, that is fine, but you are in a distinct minority. If you believe otherwise, sorry, you are just dead wrong.
As for the cheer at the game, so what? Those same fans who did the Sox cheer took the time and trouble and money to support the Pats on the road. It there are Pats players who don't like it, as much as I love them all, well, too bad...if that is the biggest thing they have to complain about, then life is good. Those are the same fans, figuratively speaking, who went to the Snow Bowl game, and who (like my father) had season tickets back when it was Schaefer Stadium and the team sucked.

Like any topic, there are many opinions. But what you have stated here is fact...like it or not.

I just happen to agree with you!

I betcha they put images or video of the Red Sox on the jumbotron this Sunday to whoop up the crowd.

Huh? No, B.C.'s great. They've done a great job this year without the benefit of quadrupled financial resources over their opponents.

Who needs that to get fired up at a Patriots game? I say save it for a nap at halftime.

What you don't understand is your opinion doesn't matter...END OF STORY.

This Sunday, you will hear it again...LET'S GO RED SOX, LET'S GO! And it will bother you...ONCE AGAIN.

But it WILL happen and the FACT is, it's OK....IT'S OK! NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE THIS FACT....SO ENJOY IT!:rocker:

So chanting for BC would be fine during a Pats game?

Look, it's obvious you don't like the Sox, but the region does. Don't pretend it's a matter of right versus wrong, it's a matter of your personal tastes, which clash with 95% of the region. Life goes on, and so do the chants.

#2 NATIONAL RANKING

#1 IN GRADUATION RATE!

Those 2 just don't go hand in hand...May even be a first ever in NCAA Football.

Go BC...Kick Virginia Tech's hickass's!

I'm a Umass Amherst alum but have followed BC since I was a kid! If Umass goes Div 1A, I change my allegiance!

The number one payroll hasn't won a WS yet this millennium and has gotten knocked out of the first round the past few years and the #2 (depending on where the Mets are year to year) hasn't won since '04 so there's probably a little more to it than just money.

You mean ... You mean, I've been writing all these posts for no good reason? No one really cares? Damn! And here I thought going from Desperate Housewives to BankofAmericaSox represented progress thanks to y'all.

Wow. OK, so why spend the money? There MUST be a point to it. Sounds like a good reason for overhauling Boston's management.

Tell people where you're from and everything will make sense.

OK, I admit it. I was born in Southie. I grew up in East Boston, but moved back to Southie as soon as I could. Don't hold any of this against me. Please. I was young and impressionable. I needed the money.

Listen, I know your not a Sox fan so this isn't going to matter anyways since your clearly out of your mind but here we go. The Red Sox are in a division with the Yankees. The Yankees still outspend the Sox by a wider margin than the Sox outspend the #3 team.

Also, there is no salary cap in baseball but your going to criticise the Sox for using their resources that the rules allow them.
