Rodney thinks Red Sox chants are disrespectful.

Do you want to disrespect Rodney?

Rodney wears his heart on his sleeve... He said what he did in the heat of the moment; the situation he was responding to was totally different (at Gillette when they flashed the score on the teletron in '03).

I bet you if they asked him about yesterday’s game this morning, his answer would have been different. He has had some time to adjust to the culture around here, and im sure he gets a kick out of how "passionate" the fans are... even when we travel.

I think allot of the non "homegrown" Pats fans hate on the Sox because (and I HATE to pull this card), but if you did not grow up here you could never really understand.

Parochial chauvenism at its very worst. Total nonsense. You definitely should "hate" to pull that card; in fact, you should be embarrassed.

But it is still true... It's difficult for people who didnt grow up here (Boston) to understand the impact that the Red Sox have on the sports culture.

Its like me pretending to understand a person from Brazil's passion for World Cup Soccer.

i was there and even the miami fans i was sitting around thought it was stupid and disrespectful

There were still miami fans around at that time?

Alright, and let's go BC... and Bank Of America, apparantly. Hell, there's enough cheer to spread around. Man, I feel GOOD!

YEAH ... SPREAD THE LOVE!!!

This actually gives me a thread idea.
I will post it in the Bruins forum.

No, it's not true, and you're just embarrassing yourself. The only people who really think that way are those who've never ventured beyond Route 495.

why in the world would they need to do that when you have a team like the pats, if thats what you need i suggest you stay home, as mo vaughn said, "boston fans are stupid, stupid"save the sox cheers for fenway, you didnt hear broncos fans last night chanting for the rockies, they get it, unfortunately there are alot of boston fans that dont get, it, lets see whats next chanting lets go pats at a celtics game?? people need to calm down and get a clue
Why don't you ask the Patriots why they put the Red Sox (Schilling Bloody Sock images) on the jumbotron in 2004?

I'm sure the Red Sox felt disrespected this game....

Nice of you to assume that you know where I have ventured in life... but your are wrong. Very wrong.

And what is it with you and this "Embarassing myself" stuff??

Im not embarassed about anything!

The FACT is... if you didnt grow up here in the Boston area... then you DONT FULLY UNDERSTAND THE IMPACT THE SOX HAVE ON BOSTON SPORTS CULTURE.

Just as I dont understand what it feels like to have grown up as a Yankee fan in the Bronx... or A Cubbies fan on the south side of Chicago... or a Packer fan in Green Bay Wisconsin.

I don't drink and I sleep very well. Your replies don't change that it's a stupid thing to do at a football game.

STEVE...shut the Eff up!

99% of the Pats fans here DON'T think it's stupid, therefore, it's NOT stupid. Majority always wins...so you lose:rocker:

You WILL hear it again this Sunday...so sit back, shut up & enjoy it. If I was sitting beside you, I'd take out my red & white pom-poms and do my Sox cheer...right in front of you!

No, he should not be. Because we stand behind him. YOU will never understand, because you're not one of us...face it!

I have an idea. Let take a poll on this. which ever side wins is right and it's final.

HOW'S THAT SOUND FELLA'S?

Because:

(1). It is stupid.

(2). The Patriots players DO NOT LIKE IT.

(3). It makes New England fans look like a bunch of bandwagoners.

1)It's awesome, if your a Pats fan you are probably a Sox fan.

2)Who cares if they don't like it? We're the ones paying for the ticket. I was at the Titans game when the Sox beat Oakland and it was one of the best sports experiences I have ever been a part of.

3)If they like the Pats and not the Sox than THEY are probably a bandwagoner? What the hell other team should a fan FROM New England root for? That makes no sense. If they were chanting it at the Indy Jax game then you can call them bandwagoners. What the hell did the Sox do to you? Calm the hell down.

Umm, so why are you a Pats fan if your not from New England? That makes no sense to me, unless you have no real football team in your area, than I don't blame you. I stuck by the Pats when they were 1-15, when the best offensive player was John Stephens and Rod Rust became the worst coach ever. I EARNED this friggin team, just like every other New Englander that stayed loyal.
Now I don't know you, your story or why you root for them. But don't presume to think that you can tell New Englanders to do with our team, that YOU happen to root for for unknown reasons.
Not trying devalue you as a fan, but he's right. You just don't know what it means to be a New England sports fan.

because the game was in progress, also the pats made a mistake there because fans were cheering after a titan score, i dont think they do it again

You sound like you have no idea what I'm talking about. No, they actually put the Schilling bloody sock stuff up when the Pats were on defense on third down situations. Your New England Patriots did that.

You guys are trying to build the Berlin Wall around Foxboro where Pats and Sox stay firmly divided while the teams themselves facilitate and encourage a relationship with each other.

Just because you have a problem with limited comprehension doesn't make it right to project that onto others, Moga.

This reminds me of that Three Stooges episode, "Morons Are Us -- And Proud of It!"

Idiot. Re-read my posts in this thread for answers to your questions and corrections to your mistaken assumptions.

No, no, NO! That's NOT what happened! There were hundreds of people listening to the baseball game on radios. I saw and heard this happen and remember it vividly because it was so weird: The cheering wasn't stadium-wide. Seconds after McNair scored, a pocket of fans in the south end zone burst into cheers because something simultaneously happened at Fenway. Then groups in other parts of the stadium did the same thing as word spread. It had nothing to do with the scoreboard.

at the end of Sunday's game would you find it appropriate to chant "Let's Go Revolution"?

After all, they are in the playoffs and even share a home with the Pats.

This topic is getting blown WAY out of proportion. Times are pretty good here in the Boston area if this thread gets 3,000 hits and this is our only problem. Let’s move on and get down to some real football conversations.

If people feel like it. Problem is, I don't think you'll find a thousand people in that stadium who give a rats arse about MLS soccer. On the other hand, I'm sure a majority does care about the Red Sox.
