Tom Brady: an honest take

NO guarantee that Bill keeps him around for 2020...if we crash and burn in the wildcard round I can see Bill moving on.

He wanted to move from him 3 season ago. Brady hasn’t been good.

I think our defense and old school running game caught fire at just the right time last year and that's why we won the SB. I think Jimmy would have won it too, plus we'd have a franchise QB for the next decade in Foxboro.

  • Brady's arm gets healthy in the offseason.
  • We get an actual tight end
  • We get an actual receiver
  • Andrews comes back
We are fine.

Far from it.

Point being even if Tom can rebound a bit next year, I just don’t think the personnel will cut it.

TB would have to rebound more than a bit just to get back to career average numbers. At age 43, such a revival is pretty unlikely. From a shrewd GM's standpoint, it's time to move on. Although, we don't know what we really have in Stidham yet.

Give Brady a real OL, a real TE, and a WR not Edelman and then we can talk. This team has the ****tiest offensive talent I've seen since the Reche Caldwell-led Patriots corps of 2006. But at least we had a legit OL in those days with Light and Mankins anchoring the line.

Exactly the talent level of this Team BLOWS on O: double Edelman its basically over. Chiefs were going to steam roll us anyway. We didn't deserve the Bye week and we only beat ****ty Teams. Offense checked out after the Sanu Trade. Wish we had AB.

Greatest player of all time, but he's also washed up and it's time to move on.

Get a pick for him!!

I’m ready for a down year if need be. Bring on the 2021 draft class.

And BB has also drafted ****ty offensive talent the past 3 seasons. Give Brady zero supporting cast, and he's gonna look bad. This is the least talented offensive team I've seen around Brady since 2006 and even then we had a better OL.

PS You do realize we won the Super Bowl LAST YEAR, right?? Was Brady our QB then or was that Garappolo who went down with a season ending injury just 3 games in?

You people kill me. The guy is injured and you're crucifying him. He's been hurt for weeks. He was still shaking that elbow this week in practice. He still put our team in the lead with less than 4 minutes left in the game but our D crapped itself.

Nobody's trashing him.

People trash everyone around him all the time as they try to deflect any and all blame away from Tom.

It sucks, but the guy had a terrible year. A lot of that was on him (or on injuries), but it is what it is.

Things aren't looking good for his future.

With the completion of today's game, Tom's QBR this season will rest right around 88. In each of the last four seasons, starting with the suspension shortened season of 2016, Tom's QBR has declined. Tom's career average QBR is 97. He barely hit that last season and fell well below this season. Tom Brady will be 43 years old at the start of next season. If I'm BB, he doesn't get re-signed. I try to talk him into retiring as a Pat. He is playing well below Tom Brady averages now. He is no longer worth the investment. You can blame the offense all you want, but the steady 4-year decline is undebatable. It's not just QBR.. it's pretty much every stat that matters. They're all at 4 year lows this year. It's time to move on.

Did you see Sanu catch that ball at the 18 with wide open territory before him late in the game? He made it to the 10. 99% of the WRs in the league score a TD there.

Brady was literally working with nothing out there once we took Edelman out of the mix. And I'm not only talking about the constant drops.

Brady may have lost it, but you can't tell when there is literally no one to throw the ball to.

This team with Stidham would be lucky to win 4 games. Belichick coached without Brady before. We all know how that ended.

Kraft forced Belichick’s hand to trade Garropolo.

Explain how the Patriots keep Garoppolo, given that trading Brady would have resulted in $14M in dead money in 2018 before paying Garoppolo.

I think it’s all about whether his elbow is a permanent recurring issue or is expected to heal and be okay. Unless he he goes nuts in the postseason, I don’t think many franchises will be bidding for him.
I agree... Not to mention losing amendola and gronk. To me the Philly sb was the Pinnacle of his performance. Not putting in the time in the off-season catches up with you... Can't blame Brady for wanting to be with his family

Edelman can't consistently beat double teams. He's a great receiver, but he's a great SLOT receiver. He's not a #1. And he has nobody else to take pressure off him as the focal point.

Problem is BB thought he had a #1 in Harry but he has been anything BUT that guy. As for AB, Kraft sabotaged any possibility of that happening by forcing the cut. We can't draft talent and we can't hold onto it because Kraft cares more about image... *cough* massage parlor *cough* than winning.
