That answer should be framed and pointed towards whenever someone asks questions about receivers in their first season with the team. Especially the ending about making space for others.

I read recently that the Sullivans had agreed on a new contract for Stingley and when he was paralyzed, tried to renege on it and that along with cheaping out on Hannah/Gray were the final straws.... Gives a different light and makes you wonder if the Sullivans shouldn't have sold out to someone with financial backing and how differently things would have been.....
Fairbanks was gone when Stingley got paralyzed.

Stingley was paralyzed in August 1978 and Fairbanks coached the Patriots until the end of the 1978 season................

Urgh, preseason too. Damn, fans not around pre-Brady -10 have no friggin idea how violent a game of NFL football was back then. How vicious even QBs got ground into hamburger standing in the pocket,
IDGAF, I know some say it was a good hit and just an unfortunate accident, but Tatum was someone I always hoped would get his friggin clock cleaned in a major way after that incident.

He died a long, slow, painful death from diabetes.

Worst thing they can do is give Miami hope... Get up two TDs quick... They'll warm up the busses

This won't be a slam dunk. Miami has been very good as of late and is looking to play spoiler...

Dolphins hope to play spoilers' role in finale at Patriots

define very good

They are allowing 33 points and 415 yards per game their last 6 games.

1-6 on the road and the 1 win was when Hoyer (gifted them 3 ints) was in because Brissett was injured

in their last 5 games these are the defenses they've played
(PPG rank/YPG rank)
25th/30th
28th/24th
18th/7th (no TDs, kicked 7 FGs)
15th/9th (home game and Eagles were coming off 2 tough home losses the previous 2 weeks )
20th/19th (blew a 35-12 lead to a team that was trying to lock up the #1 pick)

I mean offensively...for Miami. Since the Browns game, they are putting up much better numbers. Of course they haven't faced a defense as good as NE during that stretch.

vs. Browns: 24 points

vs. Eagles: 31 points

vs Jets: 21 points

vs. Giants: 20 points

vs. Bengals: 38 points

Do you have Miami's stats for the last few games Patriots have played them? The Patriot's won-lost record since 2013 is 7-6. The first year coach is Flores. Remember the Lions or Titans game with BB old assistants? The Patriots could blow the Dolphins out or it could be a close game. I'm taking the Patriots, but would not put a wager on this game.

Better, sure, especially on offense, but “very good”? Come on, now.

Points allowed, last 6 games: 37, 41, 31, 22, 36, 35 (including a near meltdown of epic proportions last week).

They have no NFL caliber starters at RB and their RB just got hurt last week.

Put Gilmore on Parker and JC on Wilson and I can’t see how the Phins score more than 20 points.

Our goal should be to gone our fast, go a two touchdown lead and get them thinking about the offseason.

I think Flores will have them fired up to play spoiler.

we must treat this as a playoff game, because they are going to!

Well first i'd throw out every game that was played in Miami because as much as Miami has been a house of horros for the Pats Foxboro has been a house of horrors for Miami.

So doing that we have

38-7 Pats
35-17 Pats
31-24 Pats (game where Garoppolo got hurt in the 1st half and Pats were up 31-3 midway thru the 3rd quarter)
36-7 Pats
41-13 Pats

That's the last 5 years

I'm by no means predicting a blowout or even a win but if the team that showed for that game against the bildos shows up Sunday I like the Pats in a comfortable win.

He died a long, slow, painful death from diabetes.

The Assassin never apologized to Stingley.

No call, letter or anything.

To his credit, John Madden went to see Stingley in the hospital after the game.
