Rex Ryan - Worst NE team he ever seen

Unless we jettison a fair amount of the playbook and design plays to cater to the available talent, this team isn't going anywhere and may end up 12-4 or even 11-5 if we bungle one of those "easy" games.

What offense/plays would you run with the available talent? I think the talent can play better in this system, but it takes time. They have four games to improve.

The 2013 team was probably the only Pats team in the last decade that had no realistic chance of winning the SB by the time they entered the playoffs. Their playoff roster against the Broncos was embarrassing with Brady trying to connect with the corpse of Austin Collie and a TE named Mulligan. This team clearly has issues but they still have a stout defense and should have enough to be competitive against anyone.

Leave it to Rex to put his foot (or somebody else's) in his mouth...

What Fart (got ‘em) Scott said was actually ridiculous.

Bart Scott Said Something Woefully Dumb About Patriots’ Past Playoff Performances

“Their path to the Super Bowl, especially — we know what it is if they don’t host throughout — they’ve never made a Super Bowl when they had to go on the road at any point,” Scott confidently proclaimed Monday morning on FS1’s “First Things First.”

The person who buys the groceries for this team should take responsibility for this mess. All he cares about is defense. I know I will get all kinds of hateration for criticizing BB. But it's true.
The offense has no personality. No its just straight up dysfunctional. It's as if they don't know basic execution. It's shocking to watch. The offensive coordinator needs to step it up too.

anybody who puts stock in the words of a proven toe sucking degenerate fat slob fat **** should be summarily executed at dawn...by howitzer

I'm concerned about you holding too much back. It's not healthy to repress, tell us how you really feel. We're all friends here...well, maybe not all... but mostly...then there's some frenemies...and the odd fnord...okay, at least there's Tune & I... and probably Deb & Icy

Mehh...every year there is this annual deja vu where everyone bury the Pat's, only to eat the words at the end.

No, it's not true. BB has put tons of resources into the offense -- recent trades and high draft picks at OL, RB and WR. Injuries, retirements and weirdness (AB) can't be predicted. Just think where the offense would be had Andrews been OK, AB not misbehaved and one of the two fullbacks not gotten hurt. The only spot where some criticism might be warranted is TE, but Gronk retired late and two of his successors there have battled injury as well.

I know a lot of it was in “garbage time” but I was shocked to read the team stats for the game. 446 yards total offense? Really?
Patriots vs. Texans - Team Statistics - December 1, 2019 - ESPN

They missed a field goal and were pinned deep several times and got yardage but punted twice inside Houston territory. They moved the ball somewhat but couldn't score, neither TDs or XPs. Don't forget the 4th down play either, or moving the ball before halftime but inexplicably not using timeouts to maximize the opportunity. Or even using a challenges on the spotting of the ball before the Sanu drop.

rex is a funny guy. he only considers other teams offense and how it would stack up against his defense. that was his fatal flaw as a head coach. he ignored the other 2 aspects of the game (his offense vs. opposing defense, and Special Teams). i find it funny.

that being said, this offense is not great. Hopefully we can right the ship and at least become slightly above average. it would give us a shot

Damn straight. When it comes to fan expectations BB & Brady are victims of their own success. Football is a game of attrition. Injuries and illness (physical or mental) are every bit, if not more, of an opponent as the teams on the opposite sideline. Over the years they've done so much, sometimes with very little left, to the point where people now expect them to do it all with next to nothing.

I knew we weren't coming back, but d ammit we almost did. We were one Brandon-Bolden-better-batted-ball from getting the ball back on a short field with 50 seconds left and Houston reeling. edit - and us only down 6 points.

That's why I never rule the Patriots out. We go the full 60 min and if a team lets up and gives an inch we are always there to take a mile.

Clearly Rex never saw the 1990 Patriots play.
