To Everyone Blaming Brady

This started long before Edelman and Amendola were on the team. It started after the disasterous 2006 season. Brady started inviting the WRs who were on the roster to work out with him in Cali. To claim that it was a glorified throwing session is a huge understatement since it was said that they went over how Brady expected routes to be run in certain situations.

After Brady started doing those sessions, we saw a huge uptick in the offenses success with WRs.

It's been at least 2 years, though, since he's done it. Or since it was reported on, anyways.

I mean you will disagree with it but that is just my opinion.

To me anything run without real DBs and contact is just a throwing session. There is no physicality, rerouting.. any adversity to overcome with those. It is just running routes as they are drawn up which can be done anywhere (like lets say OTAs with a backup QB) according to the playbook.

Route adjustments based on coverage ? In the playbook.
Option routes ? In the playbook.
Handsigns ? Adjusted weekly and in everyones weekly gameplan package.

There is no secret sauce that Brady only tells in person. Everything they do, know or learn is written down and added to the offense.

Again, I agree that it helps from a getting a rapport POV but to me the actual impact of 3 days in Montana or somewhere in Cali is over-exaggerated especially relative to what one day of full speed reps at camp can do.

Finally there were pictures of him working out with Edelman, Harry and Gordon during the offseason. So something was happening.

Plenty of blame to be shared here:

#12 is in decline, obvious last year more obvious this year.. with that being said he is still the GOAT and have to wonder how much he has in the tank to overcome shortcomings of this team which he has done so well in the past..

McDaniels game plan and play calling does not appear to be playing to #12's strengths or to the strengths of our receivers..

Watson who is not Gronk, but pretty good overall, had one catch Sunday nite..

A bad play by Harry and no more targets??

Meyers is what he is, an overachieving UDFA.. shows signs of progress, but a long way to go.

Sanu had a high ankle sprain two weeks ago.. that seems to slow him down.

Dorsett was concussed in the same period probably still recovering.

Then there is the loss of Gronk, not replaced, James Develin (often minimized), David Andrews and a bunch of guys dinged up to one degree or another..

Thought the D did not look as good as we are accustomed to.. the flu and recovery from had an impact.

Not sure what the outcome of this will be, but playcalling and getting more of people involved in the offense is key... if they don't it will be a long 4 games until the "Tournament"..

That INT was in NO WAY on Harry and it's pure ignorance on your part, Deus, to claim otherwise.
You serious, Clark? You may want to watch that play again. And again. Maybe one more time after that. The INT was 100% on Harry. If you don’t see that, then you should refrain from talking about route concepts from now on and maybe stick with something you’re good at. You cannot, I repeat YOU CANNOT, give up that leverage on a slant. That’s the first rule. Harry lost the leverage and Roby out-muscled him for the ball. It shouldn’t come as a mystery that Harry was rarely seen after that and didn’t get a sniff of the ball when he was in. Harry even admitted fault himself after the game. Shall I give you the link or would you prefer to just Google “N’Keal Harry” and find it on your own? It’s still the top news story.

I'm convinced a lot of posters here are first and foremost Brady fans and Patriot fans in the periphery.

I was a fan of the Pats for 41 years before Brady arrived, but as soon as Brady is done I'll be done.

For whatever reason, the NYFL chose to tarnish the legacy of Tom Brady, a player they should have celebrated for his conduct on and off the field.

When I dump the NYFL it will be because of their actions, not because of my Brady fandom.

Blame Pie Slices:

Brady (1%) - Not at the same level of play...clearly not comfortable and very frustrated.

Belichick (1%) - Not securing an adequate TE this offseason is a gaffe, though with a game changing WR this issue would be largely mitigated.

Kraft (98%) - Setting historic league precedent in bending over and throwing away an incredibly high valued asset who was willing to take less to play in NE, while being a spineless, foolish idiot (just like in 2015) is inexcusable. Rather than release Brown he should have let this play out, as Brown would have the NFLPA pushing for a reasonable resolution time just as CBA negotiations make the league willing to be reasonable (and exempt list is free parking on the roster). This is not hindsight and many posters have had this stance from day 1. Definitely could have foreseen a month long investigation and month long suspension (with warning additional suspension time could result from more evidence discovered later), with Brown returning to play in November/ December. Ezekiel Elliott returned to play the same season and Tyreek Hill avoided it altogether. Many, many alternatives could have happened and there was zero reason to cut him other than public image and misguided moral code. We have no idea if Brown even did anything wrong to this day.

Kraft chose the priorities of the league (who didn’t want Brown to play) over the priorities of his own team, and his “second son” in Brady. Also a complete hypocrite who lies through his teeth and takes all means necessary to beat the rap himself but doesn’t care much for due process when it comes to his players. Pretty much hated him - and can’t even listen him - ever since the 2015 spinelessness and despise him even more today. His decision puts in major jeopardy the team’s chance to win a 7th ring and also likely makes it more likely Brady leaves the Patriots in a nightmare exit after this BS season, the second time he’s directly been involved in butchering Brady’s legacy and chosen the 31 over Patriots fans. A 42 year old QB should not be leading the league in passing attempts, mostly to guys who just can’t cut it, and Brady is clearly and obviously not happy about AB being released. He’s embarrassed, furious, and losing his cool for the first time.

No one gives a sht about recovering Brown’s signing bonus money for the 2020 cap, which is far from a guarantee and does not help at all with a ready-to-win-now team filled with aging veteran players and a historically great defense looking to complete the greatest decade ever in what could be their last year of championship contention considering the age of numerous major contributors (Brady being the most notable). Only Kraft would be gullible enough to cut a top 10 player who most certainly can be the difference between a championship and a failure, one of a few players in the league who could have replaced Gronk with his overall compounding effect on the offense. It’s unbelievable the team had a chance to steal a player like this - a pure lottery ticket win in football personnel, to win a seventh championship - and Kraft crapped his pants when the the going got too rough for his fragile ego, even though the hoopla would have died down quickly and AB was fitting in great with the team and players.

It's funny seeing fans assessing blame for the offense of a 10-2 team, but here goes;

1) Injuries - It's very difficult to overcome the key injuries they've had and continue to have.
2) Belichick - His failure to address the TE problem has left a gaping hole in the offense.
3) McDaniels - Calling for a long pass on a big 4th and inches play is bad, especially with a 42 year old QB whose strength has never been the long pass.
4) Kraft - His meddling in the case of AB is most likely behind Brady's frustration. Brady was asked to take in AB and actually took him into his home, only to have Kraft dump the guy days later for PR.
5) Brady - He seems to have let his frustrations get the better of him. If he has problems he needs to hide them better or just suck it up.
6) Gisele - I think she could be behind Tom missing the OTA's the last couple of years. I can picture her telling him to stick to the non-optional activities.

I somewhat agree, find my enthusiasm somewhat waning.. maybe it is burnout, but some of my passion is lost...

A major issue for me are these night games..

Find it interesting that 31 other teams would not take a chance on him.. did you see his tweets on Sunday Night?? The Antonio Brown ship has really sailed this time..

Is this a legit post?

Apparently he posted this in the past when all the **** went down and it allegedly got reposted recently.
Ah ok. But AB himself reposted it?

Good grief

A major issue for me are these night games..

I have also lost some enthusiasm for the game. I haven't given it a whole lot of thought why, but this is a good time to start.

My first thought is the way Brady was treated by the NYFL. Instead of celebrating his achievements the owners decided to have their puppet lie in court to put a permanent stain on Brady's accomplishments.

The officiating has also become a factor. Whenever I see a big play my first reaction is no longer excitement but to wait for a flag that usually comes. I don't blame the refs as much as the people who are making the calls behind the scenes. I lost count of how many calls that should have been reversed that weren't.

One thing that really gets my goat is the celebration crap. A guy makes an easy play at midfield that he's well-paid to make and he takes the entire team on a 50 yard dash to the end zone camera for some orchestrated dance or pose.

There are probably some other things that will come to mind, but this is good for now.

It seems like not even the AB acolytes or the anti-AB faction has yet figured this out definitely. The entire thing blew up 1-2 days ago when one of the Boston Radio guys tweeted it out and said it was just recently on AB's IG.

I thought the timeline was that:
a) it was not written by AB
b) it was originally posted weeks ago by not-AB
c) AB reposted it the other day
d) AB deleted his repost after a short while

At least that’s what I heard people saying.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Whether it's a negative opinion of the team or positive one. I don't let that affect my fandom of the team.

The NFL going after Brady didn't affect me or my views on the NFL/Patriots. I was more upset about losing draft picks to be honest.

I was a fan of Bledsoe and rooted for him, but when Belichick made that switch I understood why he did it. Brady just gave us the best chance to win. So i rooted for Brady to succeed and loved every second of him becoming GOAT because he wore the Patriots jersey.

When Belichick decides to make that switch, it's not going to hurt my feelings or wane my fandom to the team. If it's Brady leading us or Stidham, it's all the same to me.

Yes, in the AB blame pie, it is Kraft 0% and AB 100%. If you think differently, you haven't been paying attention.

Edit: this remains so regardless of the circumstances around this particular tweet.

First of all, chumly, it wasn't a slant route. It was an IN route. Next, Roby broke AROUND Harry and was able to do that because he recognized the play and read Brady and they weren't engaged.

Why don't you post the link. And I'll post the one that shows it was an IN route and not a SLANT.

N'Keal Harry Essentially Benched After Allowing Interception On Slant
BTW, here is what Harry said: "“Um … I mean, I guess I could’ve used my body more,” Harry said, according to NBC Sports Boston. “But like I said I haven’t watched it on film. I gotta see it first.”

That's not the damning "faulting himself" you think it is..

I like the team, have since day one. What I don't like is the NYFL's horrendous treatment of Brady and our team. I cannot continue to support the NYFL in any way once Brady's gone. In every war there are casualties and the Patriots will be one of those.

I dumped MLB 20 years ago and I haven't missed a thing about it. The same will most likely happen when I dump the NYFL.
