I think Billy had financial help from Lamar Hunt.

The first game I attended was a few years later at Fenway Park vs the Chargers. I can't remember how the game ended but I have a good memory of Ernie Ladd shaking the goalpost in pregame warmups.

LOL, today is my younger kids' 17th birthday and when I told my daughter, "Hey, the Patriots were "born" on 11/22 too!", she responded, "So was the Butt Fumble..." (in 2012). Obviously I've done something right.

(and I used to be a little sad that my kids' birthday was on a sad day in America, but then I thought I wish I could meet Caroline Kennedy some day and tell her that something good happened on this day many years later, in 2002, when two good souls were added to this earth...)

I think it's the day the franchise was officially incorporated. They didn't start playing until the following year.
