How are we both from Charlestown (RI/MA) & aren't best buds?he's a two bit punk in a three piece suit looking for five in the grill....
Wow, I went to a friends birthday party and just came back. This thread has really deteriorated...
Pay college athletes
the hostility has been at an all time high lately
I'm not a smart person but there's a bunch of ways you can fix this w/out the world ending. Not opposed to that, but I think a more a propos solution here would be for the NCAA to subsidize insurance policies like the one GRONK had. [He could have taken $4 million, tax-free, in lieu of playing in the NFL.]

Again I guy selling hotdogs goes on comp if he's hurt. Tua gets carted off & replaced in seconds.
I also think its absolutely insane these athletes aren't getting paid for all the jerseys they sell after they leave school.
Again there's a ton of different paths you can take. It won't be perfect. Probably have to tinker w it a few times but that doesn't mean we shouldn't do the right thing.
And to be clear, I'm not advocating for these players to be paid millions or hundreds of thousands. Just do the right thing.
You would end up with Football, Basketball and two women's sports. The rest would be canceled, the money wouldn't be there.I'm not a smart person but there's a bunch of ways you can fix this w/out the world ending.

Tua does need to learn how to be tackled as silly as that sounds. Seems like everytime he goes down his legs are folded up under him. He has to learn to just fall and fight another down and stop trying to run through every tackle. One thing I admire in Brady is that he knows how to be tackled safely when he has the time.
In this political climate - not to mention Title IX, which is Federal Law - you could never in a million years give a male football player a certain amount of money without giving the equivalent to a female.A wise man once said, "I don't treat everyone the same but I treat everyone fairly".
That's exactly how you handle this.
Coaches being paid 5, 10+ M per. More powerful than elected officials.
50M-100M stadiums that wouldn't be drawn up w/out these players putting asses in seats.
Millions for aid/exspense .
I'm a dumbass & can give you a rough draft. There are a lot of brilliant people out there that could make this work if allowed/given the chance.
Someone will say something on page 3 and BOOM! Page 4 awaits.Wow, I went to a friends birthday party and just came back. This thread has really deteriorated...
Again I find it insane that they're not getting a % from the jerseys they sell w their last name on it. Esp after they leave school. In this political climate - not to mention Title IX, which is Federal Law - you could never in a million years give a male football player a certain amount of money without giving the equivalent to a female.
The solution, which I believe we are headed towards, is not to pay them but simply to allow them to earn outside money.
Again I find it insane that they're not getting a % from the jerseys they sell w their last name on it. Esp after they leave school.
Yea it's challenging but not even close to impossible or would hurt the sport.
Ok Boomer. You're almost 60, didn't know what dvoa was until an hour ago (be honest you still don't have a clue) & couldn't tell me anything worthwhile abt our team or the sport.
It's cool, honestly no problem w just being a casual fan.
Can't wait for w/e meme in coming. Like your grandfather playing a smart phone for the first time.
No way Jose. This thread is just heating up.Wow, I went to a friends birthday party and just came back. This thread has really deteriorated...
The schools have stopped doing that.Again I find it insane that they're not getting a % from the jerseys they sell w their last name on it. Esp after they leave school.
It would be impossible to do without losing a lot of other sports. If you pay one, you have to pay them all. So like I said, the logical solution is to just let them earn outside money.Yea it's challenging but not even close to impossible or would hurt the sport.
