OT: Astros caught cheating to win their title!

Matt Walsh indicated he was at the Rams walk through practice setting up video equipment for the game and noticed a few things about the way the Rams were in formation. He got grilled about it when he got back to team hotel or something. But he didn't video tape anything.
A fat lot of good it did. The only time the Rams made it to the red zone they scored a TD.

Meh. I bet a lot of teams are stealing signs but you don’t know because you don’t have people squealing like fiers. It clearly didn’t work the stros this year.

And in 2017, when the Astros were allegedly cheating at home, they had a better record and scored more runs on the road.

I'm with you, I'm sure this goes beyond just one team.

I just turned on CNN here....and there's NOTHING about the Astros....

During Deflategate...CNN was reporting on it...

Total F-ing BS....

I still tell people that Deflategate was the biggest steaming pile of BULL$heet in professional sports history....

I remember seeing Al Roker and everyone else on that morning show mocking the Pats. There weren't many mediots who didn't. The Pats are still getting the last laugh though, so...

"If you're not cheating, you're not trying hard enough". :p

St louis apparently hacked into the Astros computer system at one pont...

Really? It sounds petty. He’s no longer with the team. If i am an As player i wouldn’t trust this guy in my clubhouse after this. Some stuff you just buried. It surely didn’t help the stros this year. It wouldn’t shock me if other teams are stealing signs as well but you don’t have people calling them out like this guy.

IMHO this is different than just stealing signs. It's doing it in real time with a signal that tells a batter what's coming. That's a HUGE advantage. As for the recent WS, the Astros lost and probably weren't doing it anymore.

One thing I think we can agree on is the difference in how MLB treats this real cheating and how the NYFL treated Brady for no violation at all.

Baseball and football both have long traditions of gamesmanship or as wimps call it “cheating”.

Technology makes it easier but the intent is all that matters. Memo on taping didn’t go out until 2006 so everything before then was fine. Bill just had the camera in the wrong spot.

PS Screw all haters and their families. The winners write the history books and the Patriots are winners.

Not “apparently”. They did. A guy is in jail right now because of it.

(and by “jail” I mean real world, grown up, big boy prison... not, like, suspended by the commissioner)

There’s supposed to be a major investigation into the sport in general. We’ll see what else it uncovers.

4 years later and still no PSI measurements collected by the league released to the public.

I think anyone with a brain knows why.

When I heard they were accused of cheating I was hoping that it was because their bats were corked. I’ve never seen so many guys hit the ball 500 yards during the 2017 Word Series yet not even muscular. The 5’0” Altuve is the worst offender.

Yeah...

On a related note someone should check the trash cans in M&T Bank Stadium to see if they’re dented like the Astros ones. One bang means Patriots defense expects run, two they expect pass? :p

NE proved that spygate (and later deflategate) didn't matter.
It's not that they didn't matter...It's that the punishments given for these alleged "crimes" were ridiculously heavy-handed, and in the case of defamegate in particular, NO crime was committed AT ALL.

Comparing what the Astros were Proven to have done to what the Patriots were Accused to have done is similar to comparing vehicular manslaughter to parking beside a broken meter.

And no one cared. Which I find unbelievable.

A) it’s baseball. B) it involved computers and hacking.

This is a more understandable situation to the casual fan.

Something to keep an eye on:
Carlos Beltran, the new manager of the Mets, was a coach for Houston at the time and, according to "The Athletic," played a major role in the sign stealing. To be continued.

Spygate was a dumb mistake by BB. Kraft has said as much. The punishment was, however, the product of hysteria. The "Walkthrough" tape was a complete fabrication by jealous opposing players, managers and owners.

Deflategate was a travesty. It never happened. Chris Mortensen (the poster child of bad reporting and, now, bad Karma) turned a report on balls that were within 0.23 psi (the weight of a toothpick or well within one standard deviation of the mean) of what they should have weighed after being inflated in a room at 72 degrees Fahrenheit and then spending three hours at 40 degrees with a cold rain into a slander on Brady, Belichick and the Patriots organization. Only the haters and those who got paid to abet the travesty (Wells and the "Consultant") still believe that the Pats did anything wrong.

And yep. They still have the rings and the Lombardis. So **** all of them.
