Chargers Being Discussed as a Team to move to London

I don't think it will thrive there given the Cowboys dominate that region...
That's what they said about Baseball in Washington, DC, because the Orioles were just up in Baltimore and had a huge fanbase in DC.

Is there a market for a professional football team in Oklahoma or Alabama?

I live in England and have been to the London games each of the last 3 years at Wembley (We went Sunday Jags vs Texans) and I do enjoy the day out, but I think having franchise based here is going to be a lot harder then what most people seem to think it will be. The games pretty much sell out for 3/4 games a season in London but i'm not sure if they would for 8 home games, season after season, especially as we all have our own NFL teams already. The Jags have done alot of work in the local communities over the last 6/7 years to establish themselves in London- to see the Chargers jump in now would be very strange. I'm not sure how it would work with regards to paying taxes, and attracting free agents. I can't see that many players would be keen to sign up to work over here without getting paid more for it which I'm sure would bring an issue with the salary cap. I think the NFL would be better off just giving us a few more games here ( if they are so keen to develop the game further) and we can continue to watch our current teams when they do come over, or just go and watch a random game if The Pats aren't playing.

I don't know. All I know is when we opted to drive through Alabama when we drove back from visiting my daughter, college football dominates that state. One thing that obviously stood out was the fact Saban's face was on every billboard, it's pretty crazy. Not sure if an NFL team would garner the same type of interest/fan base or at least in Alabama. College football is definitely religion down there.

If the Chargers move to London could that draw Brady’s interest more?
To open a name in the UK?

Contract the Jets. Move the Chargers to Jersey.

Then split the Patriots into two franchises to spread the excellence around.

Chargers to London
Jets to Tottenham
Jaguars to Paris
Bengals to Dublin

Give them their own division where they play each other the first 4 and last 4 games of the season

Middle 8 games then require travel, but bye weeks can be used in many cases to lessen travel woes.

Lol, then add expansion franchises to replace them with new teams/owners in each market and the fans can rejoice - years of torment are finally over and they get a fresh start ;)

Unless the new teams are awful, but at least then, being new franchises, there's a reasonable excuse :p

Every year the best team in Europe gets to return to the US, and the worst US team is relegated to Europe. The Euros will love that!

I was thinking the other day that LA can't even support one team never mind two.
Oh they absolutely can. They just wouldn’t let that team move to LA and now they’re headed to Vegas.

Note:

Gisele is in tight with London Fog

and

Brady loves to wear London Fog’s wide flair collared trench coat indoors at post game pressers

Do I need to spell out what is happening here

True, but you have the Texans as an example. Personally, I don't think they are doing great (but certainly not bad) in terms of building a fanbase because of the Cowboys. I could be wrong though.

I am from the UK and I think this is a totally stupid idea......if you all dont mind me saying the clue is in the name of the game as it is called here...American football....why would I want to go on a regular basis to London , when I could visit several cities in the US......its all about money

That's just terrible news. London should not have an NFL team, period. And the Chargers, victims of incompetent ownership, belong in San Diego.
Did San Diego really care that much about that team? Didn’t want to see them leave but, not like they had a die hard fanbase.

The league is trying to expand their TAM.....Fans be damned.

A London team and China team when it happens will be put in the AFC East because Patriots.
