We need to do what we have to to get OJ Howard here in New England… This guy would be a huge play maker here… He’s got speed ...power ...incredible hands… Great blocker… I would agree with sending a first and third in exchange for him and one of their 2nds coming back .....

Where did you see that he is a great blocker? Everything I read said that in college he improved as a blocker, and that in the NFL he's a willing blocker but below average to average.

here's a recent article, one of the many I read as I tried to get updated on him in recent days:

O.J. Howard hasn’t disappeared. The Buccaneers are just using him differently.

"Though Howard is a willing and capable blocker, it’s not necessarily a strength. Pro Football Focus grades him as a below-average run-blocking tight end, and he has struggled even more as a pass blocker. "

Not a major need? You do know that Wynn played guard at Georgia?

It seems clear that NE views him as a tackle, where he was outstanding his senior year at college. And his limited time here suggests he'll be a fine pro as well. Certainly asking him to change position at this point would be less than ideal.

The details looked confusing at overthecap. There is a large dead cap amount for 2019; I guess that is a salary guarantee.

Belichick could do this if he wanted. There is about $10M available in restructures, with no negotiation with players required.

OTC doesn't seem to have been updated with the Pats restructure of Mason's contract.

The Pats could free up money by changing Salary to SB for both Hightower and Sanu. But HT is about 6M and Sanu is $3M. But that only frees up 4.5M in total since both only have 1more year on their contracts.

They could do stuff with players like White, Harmon, and Guy, but you're talking about only about 1-1.5M a pop.

Who is this "WE" you are referring to?

Are you an actual member of the Patriots organization?

If you meant the Patriots "draft badly". Please avail us of your in depth research that supports the statement you've made.

I look forward to the reading.
It's called the Twelfth Man, chuckles.

Lighten up, Francis.

He was rated highly in college. Introducing OJ Howard: The Blocker - Inside The Pylon

I hope tomorrow starts with OJ Howard coming here so I'm not on the damn tweetering all day.

If I were to quantify the amount of time that I spend thinking about/texting about/reading about/posting about the Patriots I’m fairly certain that I would be horrified.

Not a major need? You do know that Wynn played guard at Georgia? Right? You could put them side by side and have a pretty great pair. Economically is the tough part, but this would transform our line big time.

Wynn was the best left tackle in the country. Draft sites listed him as a guard because he has shorter than ideal arms. So did Joe Thomas. Pretty clear the Patriots never saw him as anything other than a tackle.

Someone needs a hemp brownie or something.

So much anger.

Buddy in a just world every poster on this board would be in jail for the decisions we've made

Wynn has very good athleticism for a lineman according to my friends who played line in college. So his loss has been big. Hopefully he is back soon.

He was effectively unbeatable as a tackle in pass coverage despite playing against future NFLers in every conference game and every Michel or Chubb highlight looked more like a Wynn highlight.

Are you really calling someone out on a fan message board for using “we?”

I read that and nervously went back and edited all my posts for the past 15 years. Serious.

sorry i got no dog in this fight but the "im not mad, ive never been mad, youre the one whos mad" routine will never not be funny to me

Who the frack is running that joint? Holy cow they are idiots ...

Falling all over myself to trade for a 32 year old cornerback owed $12m in salary next season

The Skins do have a **** ton of cap space next year (even more if Alex Smith is done) despite giving Landon Collins a zillion dollars for some reason and no chance of competing, so they could conceivably spin some of Norman's salary into bonus to eat it as dead cap. A contender might fall in love with the name and give up a high pick for the guy if he's only hitting that team's cap for a few million instead of $12m+. Of course, Dan Snyder is trying to trade Norman precisely because he doesn't want to pay a cent of what he owes the guy moving forward, so a perhaps savvy move like that won't ever happen.
