Breaking: Mike Nugent exits, no longer has a good job

He's been amazing. I don't know how many times i commented on gostkowski's bad habit of choking. This guy, a street FA is much better.

I think any time a street FA comes in and outplays the highly paid veteran. The vet should give back his yearly salary. Yes, only fair. You get beat by a guy who was busing tables last week then you should be ashamed. Cough it up and good riddance. Next train to palookaville.

And yes, gost was injured. I know, don't think excuses his poor play.

He's been a surprise let's go Nugget.

A kicker has a hip injury that needed surgery and landed him on injured reserve and you cant see how that excuses him?

Ghost had been choking and clanging kicks off of uprights for big dollars long before his hip injury. So no, no excuse.

3/4 field goals
12/13 extra points (otherwise known as closer to medium distance than short distance field goals)

Thought I'd create a positive thread before the inevitable freak-out thread comes as soon as he has an off game.
Well that didn't take long now did it?

Which...the blocked kick or the crappy weather ?

This. Gostkowski has put in more than a handful of similar games without losing his job. That being said, sometimes blocks are the fault of the kicker for not getting the right angle to clear all the defenders.

Guy did whiff on blocking the dude that blocked the punt...went right around him. It's one game...I'm not going to worry unless he strings several together. The weather didn't help either.

I’m not worried about the kicks he has missed (or had blocked) thus far. I’m concerned that he has the range of a middle schooler.

To all the people that wanted Gost replaced...

Satisfied? Is life without Gost all you thought it would be?

Mike Nougat is going to cost us a game

This will be addressed by the time they return from the bye. I’m a big sweaty Teddy Nugent fan from his days at Ohio St, but they need to bring in some competition and explore all of the possibilities. He doesn’t look like he’s ready for any big moments, and that’s putting it mildly.

Can't be certain, as I only saw the tv replay of it, but I think they overloaded the left side and the Pats failed to adjust. The blocker did the correct thing and blocked the inside guy and then quickly turned and attempted to chip the outside guy. It's always inside out as rule of thumb for blocking on FG attempts.

Nudgent does not exist and is doing a horrible job

Nugent seemed real slow-lackadaisical on his approach. Even with the bad blocking, if he was a half sec faster getting to the holder, I think he still gets it off.
That raises the question of how much trust he has in the holder at this point if he is holding back. Or is it just Nugent or just bad weather-being sure of the footing? A lot of variables.

If they bring in more guys to scout, you will know which one the coaches think it is. If they don't, then hopefully their estimate that it is practice fixable is correct.

In warmups he was unsure of his footing which is why he slowed down his cadence.

Time to pull out the rolodex and see who may be the appropriate candidate for Nugent, who will probably be gone sooner than later..
