We’ll see where Rivers and Eli rank when they are actually up for induction. I think it’s fair to assume neither will get in on the first ballot. As each year passes, that top 10 ranking can change. You have Rodgers, Ryan, and Stafford already likely to pass each of them. Roethlisberger may play a few more years and also pass them again. Point being these types of all-time rankings (passing yards, etc.) are merely a reflection of playing the longest in the present era, so they are the weakest and shortest lasting accomplishment. IMO Eli should not be a Hall of Fame QB and neither is Rivers, but both probably sneak in. Neither are top 5 of their own era.
The 49ers look very solid. However, the team hasn't yet faced adversity this season to show what they'll do under pressure. Does a bad game or key injury derail this team? We'll see.
If anyone is showing what it takes to make the Super Bowl it is the Saints. To go 5-1 with a journeyman backup who hadn't played in years. That's amazing. If Brees can't stay healthy, Bridgewater won't lead them anywhere close to the Super Bowl unless he improves dramatically. But the 5-1 start does suggest that this team doesn't quit even when things are looking grim and has significant talent. And Brees will be back to give that offense a chance at redemption after last year.
And some of us ( like moi) got abused for saying that we liked what he did on draft day, accumulating assets and trading for picks building long term like BB... I have to find the threads but I was vilified....
