He is 35 and certainly not as good as he used to be but he is a solid blocker, veteran and can still catch. I would not mind getting him for a 7th rounder? I do not believe his cap hit would be painful and he IMO would really help the running game and help with mentoring Izzo. He is basically wasting his latter years with the Skins.

Thoughts?

Not that he has much say in it, but it wouldn't shock me if he's uninterested in a trade. He grew up in DC and his family still lives there. When the return's just a late rounder, wouldn't surprise me if they take the player's wishes into account. Then again, Dan Snyder.

Solid Blocker?? I don't think that was Davis mo I know he can run catch and drop occasional balls.

From what I read he is, but what do I know?

Take a temp job for a few months with a chance to be a factor on legit contender and earn playoff coin and possibly a ring
Or
Remain irrelevant at one of the unhappiest places on Earth

Any player who objects to such a scenario is a player you don’t want.

BB have to move on from Matt LaCosse and Ryan Izzo shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence as Blocking. That move on Ben Watson looks very premature now. There will be Games when our Defense will struggle the current O is not pulling their weight.

Boston isn’t that far from DC though... so it could be worse.

Why not just go for OJ Howard? Isn't he in Bruce Arians' dog house? We'd certainly have to overpay but given his age and potential, I'd say it's worth paying. I'd start with a second and a fourth and add to the offer if need to.

Vernon Davis reminds me of Steven Jackson. Chiseled has been, that got nothing left in the tank.

If they were going to go that route I'd expect they would be better off with Watson.

He has only played four games this season and has more receptions for more yards than Izzo and LaCosse combined, and is a far better blocker than either of them. Dude can still play. But unclear to me why they'd dump an eminently similar player in Watson who was already with the Patriots through camp just to go this route. He's actually owed more this season than Watson was.

He is three years younger and is bigger. I believe he would help the running game.

Would we have to overpay? They aren’t using him at all. His trade value can’t be that high.
