Raiders relocation to Las Vegas next year.

Ever try that Vegas to LA Sunday afternoon drive? A 4 hour drive took me 9.5 hours from Vegas to Anaheim one lovely Sunday afternoon! Nowhere to turn.....

Does that include stopping for a "bite to eat " along the way?

That's easy for you to say, but recent history shows plenty of medium-market teams that told their local NFL team "f-you" and lost the team - then begged the NFL to get one back.

Baltimore told the Colts to go screw so they left. Then Baltimore paid big time to get the Ravens.
St. Louis told the Cardinals to go screw so they left. Then St. Louis paid big time to get the Rams (whom they have obviously since lost).
Houston told the Oilers to go screw so they left. Then Houston paid big time to get the Texans.
Cleveland told the Browns to go screw so they left. Then Cleveland paid big time to get the new Browns.

Not that I am arguing against your general point, but is it fair to consider Houston a Medium Market?

4th biggest city in the country and the State sport of Friends is Football.

Out here in LA, the Raiders were the team most people wanted. LA Raiders has a great ring to it. Rams were second but the Chargers have always been an afterthought.

Players will no doubt be like kids in a candy store out there in Vegas.
At some point I hope the league considers adding a second team to Chicago. LA doesn't care enough about football to have two teams. Chicago could manage to support another franchise like the Chargers if they struggle in LA (which they have so far).

Had to stop and piss in Victorville! It was a total **** show with no escape. Someone else inquired about a possible accident. Don't know, never will. It was the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Two solid lanes of traffic heading west. As darkness fell it became two solid lanes of brake lights.

And somewhere deep in the Mohave Desert they have an inspection station!

It’ll be chaos. I’m here for it.

Sure, we can call Houston a large market but, as you mention, it's pretty irrelevant to the general point be made.

I don't want any expansion and I don't know if another team would succeed in Chicago because they wouldn't have the history and love from the city like the Bears do. Besides, the whole point of moving is when some other city builds you a new stadium and there won't be any new stadiums in Chicago.

I think Buffalo moving to Toronto would make a lot of sense, but I am not so sure I ever see that happening. The Chargers are locked into something like a 20 year lease. So maybe they'll go back to San Diego in 2040. It actually cracks me up to see them playing in that soccer stadium. Quite honestly, it looks like a GREAT place to watch an NFL game. There's probably no stadium in the league where you are so close to the action. Of course, that's what happens when you essentially have an NFL stadium with the entire top half chopped off.....

Even when they were contenders, they didn't regularly fill up their stadium. Always had tv blackouts. Same thing with the A's. It's just a bad sports city. And unfortunately it'll always be second fiddle to the city across the bay.

The NFL isn't losing out by relocating. Jmo. Vegas is a more vibrant city than Oakland. Raiders value will only go up in their new city.

I do not like relocations but in THIS case i make an exception...Raiders in Las Vegas looks ok to me...

So and so for Rams in LA

Contrary for the Bolts in LA... i would have prefered see always them in SD

SD nor LA are great sports markets. Very fickle. Seems like the Rams will have to be consistent SB contenders to fill the place up. And even now they can't draw fans. I don't think the Rams will ever be ingrained in the city like the Dodgers and Lakers. The team will make tons of money. But will never be a National brand.

Rams could hv a success in LA imho but Chargers in Sd imho would have still the best option...
I hope the Bills will stay forever in Buffalo...

I've been to Vegas dozens of times on business, mostly in my 20s and early-to-mid 30s. It gets old fast. I suspect it will get old fast for the Raiders players living there. The "NFL will have its hands full" comments are overblown IMO.

Chris
agreed, it's different when you actually live here.
Well, for most people anyway.

Obviously there will be people that can't handle this place. Gambling can be an addiction like many other things.
I believe we have a higher than average suicide rate here.

I lost one of my brothers to it.

Unpopular opinion - Vegas is highly overrated.

St Louis should have a team. The only reason why the Rams moved is that STL would not pony up for a new stadium.

Its NFL extortion at its finest. Build a new venue with your tax dollars and give the NFL tax exemptions and we wont take the NFL away from you.

The Chargers should go back to SD.

There has been serious discussion of putting a team in San Antonio because it would not put a dent in the Houston market. I cant believe how Houston and Dallas have grown.

The US population is flocking to Texas in droves for jobs, low taxes, affordability and other qualities that I cant mention because they are radioactive.

You should change your username to nineandahalfhour.

You mean like the weather?

Vegas is great.

You just have to know where to go.
