Gillete Stadium was being built with Kraft's own money before Tom Brady was drafted and Belichick was hired. We had gone to a Super Bowl and sold out every game for 6 seasons before that time.

Dude, it's not like he'd be on the street corner begging for change if not for those two.

Bingo. The kids here who just don't know............

.

You seem to have missed the entire point of the exchange.

The topic in question: Was Kraft a billionaire before he bought the Pats?
He said: Yes
The correct answer: No

The rest of what you mentioned is not even part of the discussion.

The original post was a comment that Tom Brady is the man that made Kraft a billionaire. I'd say the Patriots had already done that, unless of course you think his net worth hadn't gone up since owning the team.

As for the "Brady is upset!!!!!" pearl clutching, please.

So what and too damned bad. That's life as an employee, especially in a business like NFL football.

Are you seriously going to claim Brady is unprofessional enough that this will affect him on the field?? Or make him ruin the locker room?? I apparently think better of Brady than you do. And if it won't (and it won't), why do I care what he thinks?

2. The whole story that Brady and Bellichick were "against" releasing AB comes from Tom Curran. Curran's DOES have his sources withing the Pats organization, at least as good as one gets for the organization. I do believe that the depth of that disagreement has been vastly overblown, simply because it's a much better story if it is. Remember Curran's source, at best, heard things 2nd or 3rd hand. Office gossip isn't usually about the subtleties,

Can't help but wonder whether that particular 'source' was the same one that previously told him the dynasty was crumbling from within with Brady, Belichick and Kraft at each others throats or the one that had Brady's knee requiring amputation from a horrific infection way back when. It's gotten to the point with ol Tom E that I am beginning to suspect many of his sources are his own misinterpretations of other media stories.

A couple of points on this comment, Luuked.

1. Again, it could be because of my natural aversion to WR's, but adding even a great WR, is NEVER going to be the reason for a "transcendent" season of offense.
I know this is a little off topic I just have a bone to pick with this sentence. Are you serious to think that a player like AB on the field with a QB like Brady doesn’t raise this offense from quite good to transcendent? It would make a huge difference.

We saw in 2007 what happened when two excellent receivers were brought in and how huge the jump was from the 2006 offense to the 2007 offense and a near perfect season. Of course you can jump on the Mike Felger position that “they didn’t win that final game, everything was a failure, Moss wasn’t a difference maker” etc. But you’d be wrong.

I think this stance of yours is absolutely bizarre and at odds with what we’ve seen with this team. Offenses with great, extremely talented receivers to compliment an elite QB make a big difference. You only need to look at 2006 and 2013 to see how obvious this is.

Note also that Curran didn't say Belichick was "against" it. He said that BB came to understand and accept Kraft's position, though left to his own devices BB would have kept Brown for now. So it's a far cry from this story of Kraft shoving it down BB's protesting throat that some people are trying to spin.

Believe me, banks do not give loans of that magnitude to mere "multi-millionaires".

Also, look at the late 90's (pre-BB and Brady) when he was financing CMGI Field - - - the only stadium financing in the NFL that did not involve taxpayers money.

Please tell me what OTHER NFL OWNER had done that?

We'll wait for your answer, Todd.

.

.
Are you being dense? The field he financed was after he owned the team for 6 years, when 6 of those years were pure sellouts. No crap he could afford it at that point. He practically tripled his investment by 2000.

The team itself didn't even eclipse a worth of 1 billion until 2005. So tell me again, how Brady had nothing to do with it?

He wasn't a billionaire when he purchased the team in 1994. That fact that you're twisting yourself into a pretzel to try and make it real is confusing.

Tom Brady did make Robert Kraft into a billionaire he is today. That's not really up for debate.

But have it. You seem to really care about Bendover Bob's finances....

True. Kraft was already very successful as a business man. But his team would be middling at best without Belichick and Brady and it’s brand would be nowhere near as huge and profitable...obviously.

I'm amused that the same people whining about Curran allegedly having "gone bad" or being "clickbait" or "sensationalistic" are taking him as gospel re: Kraft forcing it on BB. Can't have it both ways, people.
I'm amused that you have to troll every post that is in-defense of keeping Brown on the team.

And if we have to pay him his $9 million bonus, as it's seems to be, the move looks even dumber....

Woah baby this thread is about what I expected it to be at 10k replies. I EMPATIZERERATE with all of you right now.

Patriots or KC could go 14-2 and still not be the 1 seed. Crazy to think about.

Oh here we go again. Every year this insanity ensues. 13-3 almost guarantees #1 seed and 12-4 with head to head tiebreaker is also a likely #1.

This is the same old story about the Pats biggest AFC rivals...they might not lose another game all year!!!

Brady is dead wrong. The texts trying to bully and intimidate his accuser was way over the line, and Brown’s bullsh.t drama queen act was never going to end. Good riddance.

KC has a tougher schedule than we do. On the one hand, it favors us because it allows us to have a better shot at the 1 seed. On the other hand, it helps KC be more battle-tested when the playoffs roll around.

Apparently now it's cool that we fire people because of bullying through private text messages to an anonymous accuser that were leaked by a hack journalist, who himself was arrested for assault.

What world we live in.

I wish they had waited to see weather it was true or not but I think he was headed to the exempt list anyways

That doesn't mean he shouldn't have a say on what goes on in his organization.
