AB is extremely immature and seemingly not altogether there mentally. The Pats have given him a pretty amazing lifeline but if he chooses to irrationally blast away instead of keeping quiet and riding out the storm by laying low, then I hope they release him.

If he was still on the Raiders or signed by Cinncinati, I suspect that none of this would have come out. Unfortunately, the Patriots are absolutely hated within the US and any negative story about them will sell papers and creates clicks. We've seen this all too often and the reality is that the Pats as an organization are held to a different standard than the rest of the league. It's been this way since 2007. Yeah I mean Brown himself may not have intimated violence, but that's easy for us to say from 20,000 feet. I'm pretty sure I'd be freaking out quite a bit if Antonio Brown told some unknown friend of his named "Eric B" to "look into" me, and including her on the text message chain seems purposefully designed to elicit fear.

No threats in the texts, and if they were interpreted as such, they were implied threats. Don't see how/why police would be interested even if they might rise to the level of a crime in a few states.

As for a legal term for all of this, the texts were meant to intimidate (non-criminal act almost everywhere):

"INTIMIDATE
Means to intentionally say or do something which would cause a person of ordinary sensibilities to be fearful. It is not necessary to prove that the victim was actually frightened, and neither is it necessary to prove that the behavior of the person was violent that it was likely to cause terror, panic or hysteria."

That's a lawyer's term.

Such behavior is only criminal in Montana and Oregon, but even then, the punishment for this criminal behavior is only a civil citation.

In 5 more states, the intimidation has to be racial or ethnic in nature for it to be a criminal matter.

There you have it, outside of 2 states, intimidation is not criminal. And even in those 2 states, the cops would take less interest in it than they would a stolen bicycle (where I live, stolen bikes are scoffed at by cops).

Why would she even take this to the police?
