Should Pats try to extend Dorsett now?

Extend Dorsett and make RW pay for it.

Make the Pats Great Again. :D

I'll kick in $20 as if I was donating to the firefighters pension fund....

Disagree with what? Do you think PD is more/less valuable than DA?
More. He's younger, healthier, and delivered in the clutch last year in an almost DA-like fashion.

Tom Brady threw for 2 TDs in the entire postseason last year. One in the Chargers game, one in the Chiefs game The rest of our scoring was on the ground.

Both of those TDs were caught by... Phillip Dorsett.

That's pretty Dola-like

So you are saying PD is a better player than DA?

Through 2 games

DA 7 balls 104 yards 1 TD 50% catch
PD 7 balls 134 yards 2 TD 100% catch

PD 26 years old
DA 33 years old

That's not entirely fair as PD has a better QB throwing to him, and I'm certanly not here to disparage Amendola in any way, but yes, I would definitely pay roughly the same amount for Dorsett as I would for Dola. Dorsett is a great depth WR and still has significant upside. DA is dependable and clutch as all heck, but the upside argument really isn't there for a 34 year old.

Yes. The 26 year old PD of right now is better value to sign to a new contract than a 34 year old Amendola would be.
My point is.....

1. PD is not worth $6m AAV. I think DA is overpaid regardless.
2. PD is not as valuable of a player (WR, PR, KR) as DA.

Yeah Dorsett is better on this Team but look at the talent pool around Brady's and when he goes through his progressions. Eldelman - AB - Gordon - White plus Dorsett. That's a lot for any Defense to account for also Dorsett is neither Drawing CB's 1-2 or 3. Like I said before Dorsett is a solid #4 but I wouldn't anoint him as a good #3 just yet and his gauge is a really hard one to determine on this current Team.

PD as he's emerged in the last 12 months is probably worth 6M AAV. Fans tend to underestimate the actual prices the market will bear, especially for depth players.

Special teams gives an edge to Dola, but upside and health give that edge right back to Dorsett. This is a closer comparison than you seem to want to recognize.

PD is on a 1yr/$2.6m contract which was signed 5 months ago.

You are suggesting the NEP (who do not pay market rates for non-elite WRs) pay him 2x + more after 2 games.

C'mon now...

who the hell is amendola? sounds like someone who sucks

dorsett is awesome

Think he has shown enough to get an extension... as another poster said wr 3 level , I guess best to test the market as I see one or two other players are more important and should get paid ie thuney

I would say #4 - - next year the Pats probably have Edelman - Gordon - Harry ahead of him.

Perhaps 3yrs, 12 million with a good amount up-front.

.

This is great comedy Andy. I will not go through the preseason roster threads but I vividly remember you saying there is no place for him on the roster multiple times.
Yeah you shouldn’t go through them because your memory is wrong.

IF Harry wasn’t injured and Thomas was 100% there would not have been. But that didn’t happen so when do you think I would have cut him?

He is wr4. If he were wr6 there would be no from, and if he were wr5 they may have chosen Meyers over him.
