My question is whether his roster bonus and/or salary bonus can be wrapped up into a new contract.
Current contract
$1.5M salary
.5 signing bonus
.5 roster bonus
.1 workout bonus
-----
$2.6M
If the roster bonus could be rolled into a new contract, we could have a 3 year contract with
.5M old bonus
$3.0M signing bonus ($1.0 to 2019 cap)
$1.0M 2019 salary
.1M workout bonus
------
$2.6M ($4.6M cash)
In addition, there could be a guaranteed potion of his 2020 salary and perhaps a guaranteed portion of his 2021 salary. In a sense, there is no limit caused by the cap.
That’s like a dozen guys on the Pats every year. Generic post. Is that why you didn’t put Dorsett’s name in your post? They will let him test the market and I think someone else will sign him for more money.
Media is trying to start a narrative for him to demand a trade
