Jets Suck -- 2019 Edition (Official): Entering A New Half-Century of Moronic Mediocrity!

This has been a topic in this thread throughout the offseason. Darnold essentially had one good game against the Packers, who had already given up on their season. Some random/dumb ESPN stat had him rated as the best QB in the league over like a 3 game stretch from weeks 14-16 due mainly to that one game. We tried to reason with the JeteFan and explain he was setting himself up for severe disappointment, but he bought into all the offseason hype about Darnold. Predictably, most moron fans are just moving down the list of excuses, with play calling and protection as the new excuses for their obviously deficient QB who is clearly an NFL backup.

But I have seen media types here and nationally saying that the Jets finally have their QB of the future and that they will be a surprise (possibly playoff) team because of Darnold. I always wonder what they saw in this guy I cannot see.

I will give Darnold some slack just because his offensive cast around him sucks even with the addition of LeVeon Bell.

I didn't get the love Darnold got the end of last year. Before his injury last year, he was wildly inconsistent. He had a couple of good games, but mostly mediocre to bad ones. After he came back, he had one great game and one good game along with one clunker and another so-so game. But the media and fans made his post injury return like he was emerging into a top QB in the league.

Darnold looks to be a typical USC QB. He has a higher ceiling than Sanchez, but that ain't saying much. I am not convinced he will be the Jets' QB three years from now though.
Don't buy the "injured foot" ruse from last season, he was benched for a remedial re-set.

They should have had people standing on the sidelines with large flash cards. That worked really well for the Jets turning Mark Sanchez into an elite QB.

So it essentially took ONE game - or ONE quarter - for the all the bravado to die off. What was yesterday a sure-fire Hall of Fame QB and genius coach, is today a dead carcass being picked at by buzzards.

He telegraphs every pass (hence a huge number of knockdowns.) He has a terrible pocket presence and bails way too quickly; he has bad mechanics and throws off his back foot. He has an incredibly slow release. His footwork is slow and poor. He can't read coverages.

You could chalk this up to "he's developing" but he isn't a physical marvel of any kind. I'd say his ceiling is Andrew Luck lite, as they play a similar style.

Yeah, the national media, if you recall had the 2018 draft class already better than the 1984 one. When you appear to be embarassingly wrong, double down until no one cares anymore.

My prediction: A google eyed zombie will ignite a raging tire fire. Stay tuned.

I don't know if Fireman Ed is equally sad and pathetic or if he skews more toward pathetic. You can't quit being a "team mascot" and then come back. It's not like he quit because of an illness or work. He stopped because of the negative behavior of other Jets fans. Are we supposed to believe that went away? It didn't and the Fireman Ed character should have stayed retired. Some people, though, have no pride.

So why did you disagree with me? Lol
Sorry for the early morning brain fart, now switched to "Agree"!

Once you have da Jete stank on ya, ya can't get rid of it.

People who align with the Jete suffer from pathological masochism: they enjoy pain and humiliation, both mental and physical. Examples abound. Exhibit A is JeteTwink79 who comes here for regular abuse. Also remember Wrecks Ryan and his well-publicized ****old obsession, farming out his wife to strangers on the Internet.

I'm definitely going with "I told you so!", @jetefan6969...

That "off season championship" buzz didn't last one game, did it?

And of course, "not the coach's fault" should confirm your worst fears about Crazy Eyes Gaze.

How long before the sharp knives come out?

I'm awaiting the Gregg Williams coup. Might happen sooner than we thought.

Slight amendment, Professor Tune.

Attention-seeking behaviour is very common among people who have little success in their lives and consequently suffer from low self-esteem. The twist in the case of the JETE fans is that their need has got to the point at which it is so intense that even public humiliation is preferable to being ignored. What other explanation could there be for looking like this nitwit?

The poor loser probably carries this picture around in his wallet.:eek::eek:

My money is on GW planting daggers deep in to the back of both Gaze and his spy father-in-law, then he appoints his son defensive coordinator.

It’s funny. Gase didn’t have any success in Miami developing Tannehill, and the Jets fans were talking like he’s a great NFL coach who’s gonna turn Darnold into a HOF QB. His only success was with an offence that consisted of HOF QB Manning throwing to prime D. Thomas, prime E. Sanders, and W. Welker in the slot. Any OC in the league could have success with that lineup.

Yep, and the head coach is also responsible for the D, and it sucked too. Da Jills were moving the ball with ease even before the Jets had the injury in the 2nd half. The only reason it wasn't a blow out is due to Josh Allen's fumbles and INTs. Anyone with a replacement level or better QB is going to blow da Jete out of the house.

So are the Browns a field goal better than the Jets on MNF next week at the Meadowlands? Vegas odds are Clev -2 1/2.
The nice thing is one of the teams will start 0-2.

This info from PFF was posted on JetNation to argue in support of Darnold. I post it here to demonstrate that PFF ratings are totally bleepin useless.

Darnold was the 11th highest ranked QB (68.7). Among those ranking lower were Cousins (67.1), Rivers (65.3), Mayfield (64.9) and Rodgers (53.4). Josh Allen was 25th (52.3).

Jet fans draw on these kind of stats in order rationalize that their looser quarterback is actually good despite watching him suck with their own eyes.

Ahh, another sign of another Jete season opener: Joe ranting, Evan murmuring.

Joe: Only da Jete can win the turnover battle 4-0, score a defensive touchdown and a safety, and lose the game!

He's not wrong.
