Raiders Release Clown Brown

sooooo

Does anybody know of anyone that drafted BOTH andrew luck and antonio brown in their fantasy football leagues?

If Brown is Smart he comes to NE. It is literally the only place the other elite players practice and play as hard as he reportedly does. There literally is no other place for him.

If he goes to Dallas, Philly or a bottom feeder it will not end well. This is the only place.

Philly recently won a Super Bowl and won another playoff game last year.

Won’t be in PIT though ;)

MY CHOICES FOR DREW/AB
PHI
NE
DAL

obviously with serious playoff and SB bonuses

I don't think that the patriots will win this battle. But, if we did, Brady would quickly be on the horn to Gronk.

Texans should be on here. They were looking for another WR when exploring Clowney trades, have the cap space and with Luck out are in a winnable division.

In the end Brown's next team will be all about the dollars. Not that he doesn't have money already, but that is how guys like him measure respect. How much are you willing to pay me equals how much you respect me.

The Pats could "respect" him about 3 million dollars worth. So I doubt he would look here. The 2 teams that I've heard mentioned that DID make sense were the Colts and Cardinals. Both teams have cap space and could use added threats. Besides the Colts have an owner who is equally bat sh!t crazy. They could be best buds.

However IF Brown did come to NE for the pittance the Pats could pay him, it would signal that he IS ready to make the attempt to reinvent his reputation. I think under those terms the Pats would give him a shot, understanding that it probably would be a one year romance. But they'd happily walk away with another ring and 3rd round comp pick, because THAT kind of crazy can't be controlled long term.

Ding, Ding, Ding! Some posters are speculating whether it would benefit the Patriots to take him on on some type of "prove it" cheap contract. IMHO, of course it would! BB would cut him the second he misbehaved and, unlike other coaches and GMs, he won't worry about how it looks or whether his job is on the line if he cuts Brown.

However, as Ken points out, there is no way that Brown will come here on some team friendly, prove it contact. Brown is all about the $$$, and surely there will be other teams willing to pay him more than the Pats. I would think that there are two types of teams that might be candidates:
  • The first category are teams where the coach is sufficiently secure in his job take a flyer on Brown but to cut him at the first sign of any crap. Andy Reid of the Chiefs is an example, and he is well known to take talented players with character concerns. Doug Peterson of the Eagles might be another.
  • The second category, as Ken points out, are teams with owners that either are bat sh!t crazy or mostly care about putting fannies in the seats regardless of team chemistry. Irsey of the Colts might be a possibility. I think Jerry Jones (who, to be fair, is a brilliant marketing guy) would definitely be a candidate, he already did something similar with Terrell Owens. Jimmy Haslam might be a possibility also.
So: the total list includes the Chiefs, the Eagles, the Colts, the Cowboys, and the Browns. I think any of those teams would probably pay Brown more than the Patriots would. Whether Brown would be an asset on team friendly deal to the Pats is likely a moot point, some other team will pay him much more.

IIRC, this is Brown's 10th season, so it's be a 5th max.

I had Texas on my initial list. I just don't think that he would a good choice for Drew/AB. PHI, NE and DAL are top contenders for the foreseeable future, and have organizations and teams that would well use AB's talents.

I would have no issue with BB taking a shot.

It would obviously have to be a very low risk and lower $ than AB is looking for.
We have to see what, if any Oak, owes him.

If it worked out, and that's a BIG if, we'd have an awesome WR corp.

I would just love to add to the hatred that other fans have for us and the NE Org. :p:D

It all depends if they'd offer him a sizable multiyear deal. But I guess you have a point that most probably nobody will offer him many guarantees after this theatre. But then again how much value would he rebuild on a one year deal anyhow ? Wouldn't we be asking the same questions about giving him guarantees next year in FA anyhow ?

All jokes aside..

I can't believe the Redskins would be a candidate, after what Brown did to John Gruden would his brother take him on? Surely that would only be the case if Snyder forced him into it, and that might be too much for Redskins coach Jay Gruden to stomach.

Brown is not right in the head. That much is obvious. No way shape or form is he coming to the Patriots.
I may be crazy as he is but I kinda see what is bothering him though. He sees himself as a superstar and wants special treatment, he probably sees how the Steelers treat Big Ben and was expecting the Raiders to treat him just like that since Gruden was his boy. Mayock's bad cop act has messed things for him big time. He can be controlled, this is his first real experience with a grown up and it is a good lesson that he needed.

Kind of hard to check on someone’s mental status when that someone is stubborn and is being enabled by dumb NFL organizations. It’s a bit deeper than “checking in on this man’s mental status.”

If he wants to be treated as a superstar what makes you think the Pats and Bill Belichick are going want to play into that? You just illustrated why he is not coming here.

Can you imagine Antonio brown and Gordon and Edelman in the offense?
