7) A lot will be made about the struggles of the back o-linemen, but I'm less worried about that. I wonder how any of our starters would look if we suddenly put them out there with 4 backups. I don't think any team's OL is going to look good if they have to replace all of their starters. The hope is that the backups can fill in one or two at a time, so I'll reserve judgment and trust in Scar.

This. Good points in general, but this especially.

That game was a billboard ad on why you don't buy tickets to the Pats preseason games.

Cowart should be a lock. Meyers maybe not...we'll see.

Yeah, I'm starting to agree with Goodell about something - the 18 game season.

The thing about the defense that really stood out last night was how they brought pressure with a mix of stunts and straightforward rushes and still maintained containment. On Kamalu's sack, for example, Pennell looped around the RG and took an angle to contain the QB rather than going head-hunting, and Kamalu had an easy clean-up highlight.

Definitely his least favorite part of being a NFL head coach.

Yep. I wonder if he wants it that way or has he turned that way over the years? He wasn't treated very well in his earlier days.

I think that there's a clear group at WR, and the question is going to be how deep BB decides to go at the position. I don't think there's any question about which 4 receivers are the best right now (Edelman, Gordon, Thomas (if), Dorsett), but Harry's a lock as a first rounder, and Meyers has impressed against the backups.

If they go with 6 WRs, Meyers is in. If they go with 5, I'd have to be guessing at BB's mindset about youth and potential with regards to Thomas/Dorsett/Meyers.

Agreed - I think Dorsett went a long way toward being a lock, though. He played really well last night and when Brady talks about him, it's nothing but glowing.

The little comeback route he's running is a thing of beauty. It will also force corners up too close on him eventually, which means he can burn them. His game looks more complete now that I've seen before.

Cowart now has splash plays in consecutive games vs Rodger Saffold & Darryl Williams. He fits the new 3 DL scheme great too. He looks to be more of a roster lock than Butler/Wise at this point.

People seem not to know that Cowart was the #1 prospect coming out of HS when he committed to Auburn. Things just didn't work out there, personally and on the field. So he transferred to another school and had a good season. If Cowart played his years at Auburn like he did his 1 year at the school he transferred to he would have been long gone by the 5th round.

It's sort of like JC Jackson. If Jackson didn't get injured and then arrested for armed robbery (which he was obviously acquitted) and left Florida he wouldn't have went undrafted.

Coincidentally Cowart & Jackson both transferred to the same school, Maryland. Although they didn't play together.

I'm with you on Dorsett being a lock. But, I know that "lock" on a BB team doesn't mean "lock" on most other teams (See Seymour, Mankins, for examples) and, looking at the WR position from the "safe, because" angle, I have Dorsett down below a rookie first round pick, a super-talented player that could have been cut loose in the offseason but wasn't, a multi-time All-Pro who was given a contract even though he was recovering from Achilles surgery, and last year's SB MVP.

So, I expect Dorsett to make the team. I think it's obvious that he's come a long way, in terms of Brady's circle of trust, I think he's shown that he can be a productive NFL WR, and I think cutting him with the question marks about Gordon/Thomas/Harry would be an unnecessary gamble. But BB...

Maybe.. my thinking is that BB just wants to sleep, eat, and breath football, and how to improve in any way possible, and dealing with the press is the one thing that has absolutely no benefit in that regard. Just takes time away from what he wants to be doing.

Cowart did not put it together so far. But if he is starting to do so now watch out. Cowart could be a big steal as a 5th rounder.

He better be on the 53 or he's gone

Snap for snap, more players are injured playing special teams than any other position. One analysis I saw said the rate was once per 50 plays, though if that were the case you'd expect to see multiple ST injuries per game between two teams (minor injuries included). Does that sound accurate?
Why? There are very few games that will include even 50 ST plays, let alone more.

How about this: no.
Especially the lunatic idea of 18 games and no player can play more than 16. WHat could POSSIBLY go wrong with that idea??

I just watched the 40mins highlights....and enjoyed plays from

Jo.Williams
Izzo
Cowarts
Myers (from Stidham not so much from Brady)
Munson seemed to be around the ball a lot

Think Dorsett just ensured he is on the 53

Offence will get better when Edelman returns and if/when Gordon gets on the field

OT but hilarious:
