They don't have a replacement for Harmon

It would be interesting to see (but probably very difficult to ascertain) what percentage Duron Harmon played more center field vs much "Closer" (see what i did there?) to LOS...and including breakdown for each year. Bill probably has a good idea...Ernie knows exactly.

I don't get it.

We finally have one of the top set of 3 safeties in the NFL , plus we now have a top Ster in Brooks who can actually play safety. I haven't a clue why anyone would want to reduce the quality of the 2019 defense by trading a safety. And yes, I'm fine with keeping ObiWan as a Ster and backup db; this would happen if Ebner is going.

Also, in our passing league, it is OK to keep 6 CB's including a developmental player with potential (Williams). Why would we trade J Jones to keep Crossen or Dawson? J Jones is a top Ster. It would be better to extend him.

I gotta think Pennel is doing a good job. They all are...

Trollin'

"This feels like Jakobi Meyers overload but...we’re allowed to tweet especially impressive plays mid-practice and he keeps submitting them. Stidham fade into the Cover-2 “turkey hole.” Meyers leaps, taps it one-handed to himself. Touchdown. Second contested catch of the day."

Hmm. The old turkey hole canard, eh? I wonder if Belichick has given Brady the Wally Pipp treatment yet.

I think that an Harmon extension is more likely than a trade.

I think that Brooks is the clear #4 S. However, we may keep 5, with Obi taking Exner's roster spot.

I don't see why would they cut Harmon. I see Obi replacing Ebner on the 53 roster projection. Don't see the need to cut Harmon. He is a pretty solid player.

My OPINION is no, to both. I think if we cut him, he will get another chance in the league.

Harris (RB) has not really been mentioned from what I have seen so that reduces my confidence in the above opinion.

Burkhead is a genuine contributor and comes with a $3 million cap hit. He'll make the 53. He's not on PUP or NFI, so his return to full action can be any time that works for him and the team.

AFCC winning TD:

Dont know exact % but I gotta think he spends 90% of his time 15yrds or more off the LoS

Fair point. But who are you going to replace him with?
No clue but I'd start with taking a long, hard look at Jonathan Jones long term

Which is exactly why he will either play out his final year on the current deal or might still sign a surprising extension to lower that hit before September.

There is not point in cutting him and in the process maybe screw over your entire backfield by taking away the backbone of the entire operation just to save 3-4m.

You can do the same with some creative accounting if it really is absolutely necessary. And right now it is not necessary at all. I guess folks just try to find ways to create space to get the "imaginary player of the week" onto the team. This week it is a 10M LT.
Hes in his walk year. Unless they restructure his deal by guaranteeing $ in 2019 and incur a dead cap charge in 2020 they can't do anything.

Yes...exactly...closer to center field most of the time IMO

JJ is probably too small for most Free Safety roles, never mind any Strong Safety roles.

Ironically NFL.COM has Devin and JJ similar in size...
