Dorsett is fine. However if he's on the 2019 roster and playing 50 snaps a game that means none of the kids stepped up and Josh and DT stayed on the shelf. I don't think anyone wants that.

Or he stepped up.

Yes- that is my understanding which includes Harry. Harry is a risk but they'll start the kid off slow and develop him, let him build some confidence, gain the staff's trust and he'll be ok.
I’m sure he will be.

The beginning of the regular season is an extension of TC anyways. You know that.
That’s a euphemism. We aren’t going to go into the season crippled and say September doesn’t matter.

My position is BB keeps the WRs who offer the most value to the club (playmaking, run blocking, special teams). If Dorsett is on the roster, so be it. I think they have the players in camp who have a chance in bringing more overall value than Dorsett.
Having been Brady’s #2/3 already and being effective at it has value.

Keep in mind the running game is a major part of this offense now.
It always has been, why would that mean you lower your Wr standards.
You don't have Mo Harris on your list. He is on mine.
You are expecting him to be a lot more than the JAG he has shown he is.

[quite]Edelman
Henry
Harris
Berrios
Meyers

If Josh comes back, Meyers is cut/ PS
If Josh is out for 2019 and DT comes back then you will see Meyers gone or either Berrios (of he is not PR/KR) or Harris go...[/QUOTE]
Scary.

When Brisset was traded for Dorsett you told us that Dorsett was a real player. You were wrong and I told you that he was nothing special.

Dorsett is not a top 3 WR on the depth chart - Andy Johnson 2019
You are such a liar.

The discussion we had about dorsett was you saying god 50% catch to target rate meant he dropped half the passes thrown to him and I told you that was uninformed and idiotic.

You love to make things up and say I said them. The primary sign of someone who knows they lose every disagreement we ever have.
When you need to revise history to be right you are admitting you were wrong.

Oh and yes I am happy that we traded a guy who would have never played for us for the receiver who caught the only 2 post season td passes we had last year. I will call that a win.

Edelman, Harry, Harris, Berrios and Meyers + White + running game is not crippled

Dorsett is a good for for a few plays and a few games. If hes Wr2 for 500 snaps lots of plays are being missed.

The 2018 running game was the best in years. No standards have been lowered. Not swapping out Dorsett for a WR who provides more playmaking ability, helps in the running game and can play STs doesn't make sense.

Scary.

Adding Dorsett to the list is just as scary. Its not like hes the second coming of Deion Branch in 2010.

Not idea but we'll find out.

We disagree.

He doesn’t need to be wr2, but we lose a lot more if berrios, Harris or Meyers get those snaps. At least we run the risk going into the season that none of them will get the job done on the field while we know dorsett can.

I don’t know, you are the one who threw the running game into a discussion about understaffing the we and te group.

I will bet a lot of money that is not the wr roster week 1.

First day of training camp with the pads on -- and the hitting is FEROCIOUS. Well done, Patsfans.com!

F**cking nfl network

"Ranked outside of the top 10 in pass defense 11 straight seasons"

Last year they were #7 in passer rating against which says more about the pass defense than yards allowed.
They have to find something to troll the haters.

When I saw that my immediate reaction was “and playing in the five of the last six Super Bowls shows how important that stat really is!”

Let's see what happens over the next couple of weeks , we may all be wrong in the end

Can’t all be wrong if some say Dorsett makes the roster and some say he doesn’t. Unless....

...there is no roster to make?!?!?

NO! Please! Don’t go there!

You are saying Dorsett was fine at WR2/WR3 when in actuality he was very mediocre.

I don’t know, you are the one who threw the running game into a discussion about understaffing the we and te group.

So. You brought up TEs when we are talking about WRs. If you want to take a holistic approach at evaluating the potential of the offense. Since they had over 2k yards on the ground, that represents less pressure on the passing game and provide more play action, big play potential.

OK

Has this board really sunk so low? Third day of training camp and if you take away one argument and other extraneous noise there’s only a few dozen posts about what happened at Day 3 of TC. Was it really that dull? Or are we all already burned out? Waiting for the games to begin?

With Bennett showing up today there's a decent chance of a sound bite or two perking things up ;)

His ceiling has already reached effective contributor. I don’t think you throw away those kind of guys for guys who aren’t there yet but might have a chance to someday be a little more.
Braxton Berrios long shot ceiling isn’t nuch higher than Dorsetts current.
Dorsett is not a kick/punt returner - Berrios is. There's no reason that Edelman should continue being the primary punt returner.

I hope for that every year. Edelman is s so essential to this offense. But every year, it turns out that there is a reason, and a simple one: he's much better at it than anybody else. I hope Berrios will be the guy to change that, but I'm not optimistic.

Edelman's production notwithstanding, I agree with the larger thought that the risk may outweigh the reward.
Remember the silly noise about Dorsett being a returner when he was acquired?
Good times...good times

Before the draft I wrote a extensive analysis of why the Patriots absolutely would NOT draft Stidham. Evidently BB didn’t agree, so I won’t repeat the arguments here.

...Now he is looking kind of good in training camp.

...I am starting to think that the fates plan to make Stidham into a future star with the sole purpose being to make me look like an idiot (again). ;)

There's an opening in Houston you might want to look into....

You are saying Dorsett was fine at WR2/WR3 when in actuality he was very mediocre.
When he was in that role he did ok as evidence by being the leading receiver on the team at beginning of the season, catching 100% of his targets after week 4, and catching the only 2 post season td passes.
Until and unless Harry is ready to produce as a rookie we have no one else capable of doing that other than Edelman.

I’m talking about the passing game. Regardless of the running game we have to their 600 or so times. The lack of anything at the te position means the wr position is more important. TEs aren’t going to be making clutch plays and big plays so WRs dong have to.

We can fund a return man out of players who can be effective at their position. I don’t think berrios fits that. And he surely isn’t a great return man who earns his spot by being that good at returning kicks.
