It's easy, and only takes a few moments.“So I just want to clarify one thing,” Volin said on “The Triple Threat” show. “I’m seeing my column that I just posted a half-hour ago, I’m seeing it being referred to as a report all over the internet. And I don’t think it’s a report. I’m not talking, like, I don’t have direct information from Caserio or his agent. Like, no one’s telling me, ‘Aw, Nick wants out.’ What I’m doing is looking at all the facts of the situation and analyzing it and using some logic and common sense to try to tell people what’s going on. And what I think is going on is pretty clear, that Nick Caserio wanted that Texans job, and the fact that the Krafts and the Patriots had to lawyer up and enforce his contract and file the tampering charges against the Texans, it’s pretty clear that Caserio wanted that job and the Patriots are basically enforcing Caserio to play out his contract, so to speak.”
That's Volin. The ole Morrissey Drive Two StepI read the article this morning. I just re-read it, to be sure of one thing: it doesn't read like an opinion piece, at all. At least not to me, it doesn't. That's borderline literary fraudulence. Volin presents it as fact-based.
And it's too bad, at least to me, that a jerk off like Volin comes to forefront when there are some really quality, fair-minded people in the sports section like Jim MeBride Gary Washburn, Alex Speir and Tara Sullivan. Unfortunately, they're far overshadowed by jackwagons such as Volin, Shank and Gasbag. That's Volin. The ole Morrissey Drive Two Step
I guess I just don’t see him as that important. I like him, and I like the continuity he provides not having to install a new offense every year, but I just think he’s eminently replaceable.Well, we didn't win again until he returned (we had Charlie Weiss in the first half of the dynasty), so I worry about it, yes, particularly as Brady gets older. I guess for me "return to the pack" in that scenario means, "maybe wins the AFCE but goes no where in the playoffs." Spoiled, I know, as someone recently called me in another thread.
You guys attacking Volin's credibility are playing the wrong game. It was pretty clear he was doing the math not that he had a scoop.
You should be discussing the logic of what he's saying. It's a fair inference to draw - that the whole episode dragged out a lot longer than it would have if Caserio would have told the Pats he has no interest the moment the Texans expressed interest.
Bedard has what seems much more like the real story at BostonSportsJournal today. Basically, it all falls on Easterby who, while a good guy, also likes power and being around power.
Here's the problem: Volin has as much "common sense" as he does real sources for this story.
When Volin breaks a negative Patriots story, I always go back to when Darius Fleming helped a woman involved in a car wreck. Volin reached out to a local police department, was told they had no record of the incident and reported that, putting Fleming's story in doubt. It's a positive step forward that Volin sought confirmation for a story. It's a large negative backward when he only checked with one of the multiple local police departments involved and stopped there. If Volin had contacted more than one town's police department, he would have found that Fleming's story was true. That would have taken a couple of more phone calls, though, and got in the way of running with his "Patriots player makes up story" angle. There are plenty of other examples out there, like not realizing that more than one person has the last name Kraft. The key is, Volin has as much credibility as the posters who panic in the first 5 minutes of a gameday thread.
Relatively speaking Volin seems to have finally gone a step too far and is being called out left and right for his horse **** "opinion" today. Again, relatively speaking.
But of course it is not like that bozo would care.
I liked Reiss and back a few years I really liked Nick Carfardo. I don’t give the rest the time of day. Horrible journalismI refuse to believe anything Volin prints. The man believes that there was a ball deflation conspiracy.......
Nuff' said....the Globe's sports section has been **** since Reiss bolted to ESPN years ago.....

I know he had his bad moments but I always felt he was genuine. Same for Reiss. The others are either grandstanding or they are fighting a personal battle with the Pats.Carfardo was OK for Sox coverage...but wasn't a fan of his football stuff around the time we benched Bledsoe....he was all like, "Have you ever caught a ball thrown by Drew???"....that didn't age well....
RIP....
Who’s car we takinPlease forgive me...I'm aging rather quickly but...my fervent wish is to catch Volin on the street some night..and punch him in the mouth...and punch...and punch...and punch...and then sit down for a few seconds to get my breath...and then punch and punch and punch and punch him in his big mouth until it swells shut.Take pictures and send them to Felcher with the note "YOU'RE NEXT"
Oh god, yeah he was terrible as a Pats beat writer.Carfardo was OK for Sox coverage...but wasn't a fan of his football stuff around the time we benched Bledsoe....he was all like, "Have you ever caught a ball thrown by Drew???"....that didn't age well....
